Hi. I'm Monica Gaffney. I've recently started calling the charming city of Des Moines, Iowa home. I live with my husband and three furry kids in a house tucked up in the trees near downtown. I have a small studio in my basement where I complete my collages. I am going to be a first time Mother on/around December 11, 2009.

I try to fill my life with nature, simplicity and beauty as much as possible. I'm an animal lover. I have a major weakness for pumpkin pie. I Google everything. I love being at home. I love paper goods. My husband and I spend lots of time working on our house - anything from big remodeling projects to sewing curtains. I really appreciate that between the two of us we have the skills to turn a lot of ideas for our home into a reality.

I do leave the house sometimes too! I enjoy sifting through thrift shops. I usually manage at least one thrifting excursion per week.

Getting into collage has definitely been something that has evolved over time. I've always had a strong interest in graphics, media and paper. I want to deliver a unique view of something we have all seen before and hopefully get people thinking about new ways of seeing and using the things in their own lives. ATCs are a perfect venue for my collage as they're small enough to not overwhelm me cause me to really think about the space I am using and large enough to allow me to really get some good detail in there.
