I'm a fairly new quilter - I love listening to the quilting podcasts & just joined here after hearing about the fun stuff they've done.
I like paper arts & stamping as well, but mainly I sew & quilt. I love the cool colors for myself: blues, greens & blacks, but all the quilts I've made so far this year have been bright colors: red, orange & yellow.
By day I'm a graphic designer, so I think I get to be a little more particular than most when putting together a quilt. But it's been fun so far!
I love reading! I love settling down into a comfy chair with a book in my hands.
Mostly I like reading mysteries, but lately I've been getting into some other types of fiction & non-fiction.
I just finished re-reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels. And every couple of years I re-read the Mrs. Polifax books - I love them more each time I read them. I just finished up two Inspector Singh books, I found them good, too.
I just started reading the Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, it's interesting so far.
I want to read the new Michael Chabon book, I really enjoy his voice. I'm also curious about the Richard Castle books: a friend recommends them, but you never know...
I like watching movies - it's hard to pick one favorite.
I recently got the Mel Brooks collection: they're brilliant. I also make sure to go see any Steve Martin film.
I mostly like comedies: I've always loved Radioland Mystery - even if no one else did. Bridesmaid. Airplane. Death at a funeral. The Hangover(s). Tucker & Dale vs Evil.
But I'll go for action movies, too, like Taken, Xmen, The Avengers, etc.
OoOOh, I also love crafting.
As I mentioned, I've just started quilting & that's been a fun adventure. But I love making homemade stuff on my sewing machine for other people - mostly for my two favorite people: my niece & nephew.
I've always had an interest in the print arts, and I used to be very into cards & scrapbooking. If I won the lotto, I'd totally make over a room in my new mansion into a Martha-inspired studio. But my stamping obsession is pretty much always going to be there. I'm a doodler & I've just started to get into watercolor.
I'm pretty handy, and I can hang out on pinterest for hours. But I usually think, "Hmm, how can I make that/or make it better..."
I just finished up my very first swap! It was fun to put something together - I hope they like it & I can't wait to get something great in the mail.
After reading their profiles, though, I realized I filled mine out totally wrong. So here's what I picked up from reading their profile:
Favorite color: Green. No, wait, blue. Maybe Orange. I love bright colors!
Favorite Style: I like homemade stuff. My SIL makes beautiful handmade cards that I covet. I love seeing people be able to craft something wonderful.
Pets: My hubby is allergic, so we don't have any. If I could I'd have a houseful.
Postcards: I love funny postcards & stuff from different places. I love castles, sunflowers, and ships on postcards. And ducks.
Collections: I collect Fluer-di-lis related stuff (I feel it's mandatory as soon as you move anywhere near New Orleans), rubber duckies, star wars/ space sci-fi stuff, and watercolors. And WONDER WOMAN! Seriously, she's awesome.
Tea: I like light teas, I'm not so into the darker ones. Moroccan mint is a favorite, but then again, so is sleepytime. :)
ATC: This is one of the first times I've run into them, I think they are totally awesome. I may have to try making one...
