I have an ecclectic taste in music but my most favorite are oldies rock and folk.
I like many things. I enjoy country art, since I grew up in the farm lands of Iowa and I love the ocean, where I now live. I spend time going to antique stores, swap meets, and other sales just to see what treasure I can find. My favorite color is green, but I like red, yellow, turquoise, purple, and black as well. I enjoy gardening but unfortunately the slugs are bad here so they always eat up whatever I plant outside. It rains a lot here in the winter, so reading is one of my hobbies as well. I am really bad about this all about me stuff. I hope this makes my profile more complete so I can participate in a swap.
Please be aware that the ratings have changed and if you have not participated in a swap for a long time, there is a chance that your rating does not reflect what you did, regardless of what type of swap that you participated in. This is what happened with me.
I live with my husband, our Dashund "Cooper", we recently lost our 15 year old cat(Sammy) and our darling Posiedon was killed, so we have adopted three more rescue cats, Cleo (a Maine Coon), Oden, both kittens and older cat we call Bodhi, Our daughter is married and we are expecting our first grandchild, which is so exciting.
I enjoy most foods, Tai is my recent favorite. I don't eat much red meat unless it is wild game, like venison or buffalo. But occasionally will have a steak. Prefer chicken or fish. I really enjoy trying new recipies, and spices. I have been cooking since I was 9, so now I do find myself making dishes that are tasty, healthy and quick. I use my slow cooker lots, since I work full time.
I don't watch tv or own one but occasionally go to movies, I prefer to be active and in my part of the world, we don't have much reception anyway.
I recently joined a swap on tea and such, and actually I am a coffee drinker, but I do appreciate a good cup of tea on a cold night (decaffienated) to warm up since I live right on the bay and it's cold and windy. I heat with wood and it isn't always so efficient, but I love where I live. I love to bake but with the daughter at college I limit myself as it seems that everyone is watching their "girlish" figures or their blood sugars, but I still enjoy trying new recipes.
I love to read on a cold rainy night and we seem to have lots of that in my corner of the world, I mainly enjoy non fiction, and historical stuff. Also I enjoy poetry and used to write for publication on children's stories.
I am really not a crafty person as that goes, but I do enjoy making simple useful items as gifts, I tend to collect lovely stones and shells, and my home has sort of an antique, nature flavor to it.
I don't practice organized religion, but I do believe in God. My faith is the Red Road Religion. My animal totems are the White Buffalo and the White Owl. I respect other's beliefs and I do celebrate Christmas for it's true meaning, Easter too. but privately.
Incense, (opium scent), chocolate, simple beaded jewelry, fun socks, fun coffee mugs, barrets, (I have really long hair) just a few ideas for simple gift swaps, I love animal themes, but for me it's the thought not the cost. Thrift store likes are miniatures...very small,,odd kitchen gadgets, anything antique, victorian postcards, anything white buffalo (which is about the hardest of anything to find), lace doillies, country pot holders, towels..country themed. I collect antique miniatures, white buffalo, antique or unusual necklaces, not large or gaudy, I like paisleys in almost anything. Just a note..Retro stuff..Since my kitchen is the largest room in my home. I would ask that the retro swaps be centered around the kitchen.
