Hello, I live in the country outside Mitchellville, Iowa, USA. I am married with 5 boys and 6 grandchildren. Things I love: Jesus - He's my homeboy, my main man and my savior! Nature - Love to go into the woods and just sit. Listen to the birds, the creek, the wind, smell the fresh air and take in all the God provides. Baking and cooking - Everything from Bread to cookies, pies to candy, Asian to Mexican. Healthy recipes too...Love new recipes and especially family recipes, the older the better. And hearing the story of where it came from and who they were. Quilting - A horribly expensive addition. More so than good chocolate and Diet Coke for sure. Love fabric samples. Don't think I won't make something out of a 2 inch piece of fabric either. Love all types of Fabric. Bag making - Sew Sweetness - Love her patterns and videos. Zipper bags, purses, etc. And hey - if it turns out Meh...the grandkids are always willing to accept them! Living in the country - Country girl all the way through. I want to die here on the land my family bought 150 years ago. I really want to go in an unusual way though.....Like my UTV careening off the edge of the creek and sliding in headfirst. I almost accomplished this a year ago, when I went headfirst into a large eroded area, that was filled with manure. Ended up with a headache for 2 weeks and a smell that took a lot of soap to get rid of. A rather unusual call to make to my son..."Hey I am stuck in a hole, filled with poop, and I can't get out...." History and Genealogy - That's where it's at! Can't tell you what I had for lunch yesterday, but I can tell you my 5th great grandfather John Beadle was born in 1797. I devour anything about history between 1500 and 1900. Junk journals - Love, Love, Love. I love to fill them with fabric, flips, tags, pockets, stamps, well anything. I am a hoarder of all things I can put in a journal. Animals - you name it, I love it. We have a donkey, llama, cats, dogs, geese, chickens and the granddaddy of the all goats. Love me some goats! Anything old - I mean anything Family - They make it all worthwhile...Grandbabies, the icing on the cake. Ephemera - Nature themed, anything before 1920, recipes, letters, stickers, nothing new and bright, give old and dingy!
I grew up in the 60's and 70's and have lots of memories of things like casseroles, moon boots, leg warmers, muscle cars, hickies, Boone's Farm wine, Playschool barn and animals, weebles, Barbies, wooden desks and the principals wooden paddle, the smell of the stuff they poured on puke in the hallways, riding the bus for 12 years, streaking, mooning, Pop in a glass bottle, bell bottoms and getting my butt beat when I needed it. Hey I not only survived, I thrived!
I am excited to hear from you! Dawn
