I'm 26, I live in Seattle, and I crave reasons to make things more often.
I have pierced ears. I rarely wear bracelets and I never wear anklets. I don't have any allergies - yay!
Any package you get from me is quite likely to contain things that I've made. Just so you know.
I'll always, always rate you. If I'm running late, feel free to nudge me - I do occasionally let a few swaps gather before doing a batch of ratings.
I very often reuse my packaging. It'd be awesome if you reused packaging from things I sent you too!
I tend to like things at the intersection of twee and indie - The Decemberists and Belle and Sebastian are particular favorites. I also love the Beatles, the Magnetic Fields, and lots of other stuff.
I love alternative comics. Other favorites: Jacqueline Carey, David Sedaris, Garth Nix, Roald Dahl, George R. R. Martin, Diana Gabaldon, Michael Chabon... oh, so many.
I go through phases, cycling through knitting, drawing, making jewelry, decoupage, felting, spinning, and a few other dilettante dabblings.
As for crafts other people make, I like drawings, paper art, anything glass, zines, and sewing or embroidery. This is not to say anything else is out of the question - far from it.
I don't scrapbook. I collage sometimes, but some of the cuter ephemera of scrapbooking will be lost on me.
Strange things - Your handmade things - Interesting toys - Art for my walls - Fun new music - New (to me) beads and yarn - Items for learning new skills - Jewel tones, especially maroon, teal, deep green, and purple - Unmounted rubber stamps and hand-carved stamps - Magazines and comics - Recipes, especially healthy ones - Richly patterned paper and fabric - Polymer clay - Pieces of glass, seaglass and otherwise - Knitting patterns - Bias tape and interesting buttons (especially metal picture buttons) - Feathers - Heather Ross fabrics - Mermaids and other mythical creatures
Bath/body stuff - Things that smell - Useless trinkets (I'm trying to simplify in general. So long as an object has a purpose, it's probably ok, though. And I will always treasure anything you make for me.) - Coffee-flavored anything - The smell or flavor of lavender - Tea (I don’t dislike it, but I don’t often drink it) - Yellow and pastels - Country-cute things - Plastic (except for headbands)
If you're wondering whether something will be a little edgy or offensive to me, err on the side of the dark and weird. That is, if you're wondering to nipple or not to nipple on an ATC or something, always go for the nip.
So far as clothes, I have all the scarves I could ever hope for, and Seattle's not a very cold place to live anyway. I wear a size medium or large t-shirt - I come from hardy (read: large-chested) stock, so please keep that in mind.
I'm very open to one-on-one swaps - just ask! Here's some of what I'm currently looking for.
-Old cashmere sweaters (as in, thrift store finds that aren't too felted or fuzzy) -Tools for needle or shuttle tatting - I want to learn. -High-quality markers and pens for drawing -ATC blanks -Those wonderful handy swap cards with the user's name and other info pre-printed on them -Some very warm knitted socks -The book Wicked Gentlemen by Ginn Hale -Neat buttons -Yoga or other exercise DVDs -Stamp-carving material (aside from erasers) -Your handmade things
Considering proposing a one-on-one trade? Here are some of the things I can send you.
-Beaded jewelry, particularly necklaces or earrings -A knit hat, scarf, or dishcloth -Books - I always have a pile ready to go to someone else -Line art - I draw a lot and I like to share -Hand-carved stamps -Polymer clay miniatures - I especially like making food -Seattle-specific things - we have a Trader Joe's here (I sure miss it when I'm gone) as well as Archie McPhee, headquarters for all things small, strange, and collage-friendly -And more, of course - just ask!
