Hiya Snailmailer1,
Just wanted to say hi from Australia. I was looking at possible swaps and saw a comment from you there, I loved that you said we should embrace the whole world, especially as reading your profile I see you are blind. Bravo on making it to the post box, that would have been terrifying for me. I dont get out much either, am confined to a wheelchair after my legs simply decided they don't want to work anymore. How impressive that you enjoy swapping here, I imagine you have someone describe everything you receive for you to get a mental picture, and I find that really cool. Anyway, just really wanted to say hi and nice to meet you. Hugs from Jen
Helloooooo from across the Atlantic. :-) Thank you for your remark/question on my profile, which was refreshingly polite even though you don´t agree with me. :-) I believe that a great part of this whole issue is the different meanings that the word "feminism" can have. If one simply means "equal pay for equal work" or being equal under the law, then yes, I am for that. However, in recent decades militant feminism has moved far away from that and now often seems to want men and women to be considered the same, and that I cannot get into. Men and women are different biologically and psychologically - and that´s a good thing because we complement each other. We are equal in dignity while having different levels of many attributes. I often hear modern militant feminists actually bashing men (not cool) while at the same time telling me that if I am to be a strong woman, I must act like a man, think like a man, want the same things that men want. That´s the kind of feminism I´m not into.
