My name is Pam Swift-Brooks and I am an avid paper crafter who focuses mainly on cards, ATCs, memory dex, flip books and other types of paper crafts. I am married to my best friend. We are globe trotters who love to travel! We have lived in several states, but seemed to have settled in Texas. But, who knows!
We have a 41 year old African Grey Parrot Delilah, or D-Bird, that I adopted from a Parrot Rescue facility where I volunteered once a week.
I have spent the last 20 plus years working in different Zoos around the country. As a keeper, I have worked with most of the common Zoo animals that people think of. However, my most favorite of all animals are PARROTS :) It does not matter what kind, I love them all! Not only are they beautiful; but super intelligent too, and not to mention ultra sweet!
I started taking improv classes 6 years ago and have fallen in love with the art form! I have taken classes, workshops and summer intensives all over the country!
Since I am an 80's kid, I enjoy lots of 80's music, but I really LOVE the 90's scene! So much wonderful stuff came out of that decade! Grunge, goth, alternative, you name it, I LOVE IT!!
My husband and I have been without television since we got together well over 20 years ago. We have a lot of DVDs, watch Netflix and love going to the movies. We do watch some shows on Amazon Prime and Netflix. I LOVE Doctor Who! I want to watch Game of Thrones, but not sure if that will ever become available on a streaming non cable platform.
I am a non-reader. Too much ADD!! It takes me way too long to read any book, even if it is something that will get my attention. I forget who characters are if they aren't the meat of the story which causes me to re-read to remember who they are. UGH!!
My most favorite holiday of all time is Halloween!
I LOVE whimsical or cute skulls and skeletons! I’m not really into sugar skulls/Day of the Dead. I love the whimsical style of crafting, and also have a bit of a Gothic style. I craft for Halloween all year round and will be ultra busy crafting away for as many Halloween swaps as I can when the season is here!
I really don’t care for hand drawn/hand painted styles or “Vintage” or “Shabby Chic” styles in general, but love these styles if it is Halloween or “darker” themed. I am intrigued with Steampunk even though I don’t really go for the vintage look. I guess that’s why I like the word intrigued as this style marries a somewhat modern idea with an old style. I would like to explore this style some more in some swaps. :D
Some of my interests in color schemes are Earth Tones (think fall and Halloween), bright colors such as pink, purple, and green (think spring and summer).
I love embellishments! Especially whimsical, and Halloween. I am also a sticker addict for said genras.
WISHLIST:
embellishments especially animal or Halloween oriented.
I LOVE movies!! I love action/adventure movies the most, with Jason Statham being my most favorite action star. I also enjoy a lot of Pixar and DreamWorks films that are mostly geared towards kids. Some of the directors that I follow are: Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, and Tim Burton.
I always send my swaps on time and I am quick about communicating with my partner to make sure that they are received. I will definitely reach out to see if something arrived around the two week mark as I get worried that it may have gotten lost. Unfortunately, I was rated unfairly one time after one of my swaps was lost twice internationally and finally was received on the 3rd attempt, making my swap late. >:/
As soon as a swap arrives, I immediately take it to my computer table; sit down, log into swap-bot, sit and open it and capture my initial reaction in words as they happen! I definitely comment on every swap as I know that my partner has worked hard on their swap; and is just as excited as I am to see that it has arrived and if there are any comments about the artwork. :D
PLEASE and NO, THANK YOU:
promotional religious items. nudity, even if it seems tasteful to you. items with a cigarette smoke smell. book pages, paper scraps as I have way too many myself! cancelled postage stamps, tickets anything vintage or shabby chic (except Halloween related) Manga/Anime items
I will pass said items on to find a forever home.
I know that life happens but please be considerate and let me know if you are running late with a swap as I will do the same for you. Please also let me know if there are extenuating circumstances as to why I have not been rated in a timely fashion and if my swap was received. Communication is key to making swap-bot a great place to be!
