Hello everyone! I discovered this site from a friend at postcrossing. I'm excited to join all the fun and creative swappings~!
I was born in Germany, but I lived there for only 2 years (unfortunately I don't remember anything!). I grew up in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. I spent about 5 years of my life in Japan for my study. Now I'm working as an administration staff of a Japanese company in Jakarta. During weekdays I live in a tiny shoebox apartment near my workplace, and on the weekends I usually go home to my parents' house, which is where I do all my arts. I also sometimes work as a freelance Japanese translator or interpreter in my free time.
Although I love and tried many kinds of art and crafts, I've always been a paper crafter at heart. In the past I tried sewing, knitting, paper doll making, scrapbooking, card making, etc. Mostly I love working with paper and I'm currently exploring the beautiful world of mixed media art and mail art. I love making collage. I've been trying to be more consistent with my art journal, but somehow I find it easier to make art for other people than for myself.
I love colors! I've always love bright colors, either together or standalone. I love putting together different things of the same color both in art and in real life. I love all bright colors but currently my favorite color is rose pink - any darker / thicker shade of pink like fuchsia, magenta, shocking pink, french rose, fashion fuchsia etc.
I love mailarts! Growing up without internet in the 80's - early 90's, I had a collection of vintage postage stamps and letter sets. I'm fascinated by arts which incorporates postage stamps. I think postal theme is universal and timeless. I read the book 'Good Mail Day' which I love so much. It has broaden my view of the mailart world.
I love patterns! Stripes, polkadots, chevron arrows, are I think universal patterns which are super easy and fun to incorporate into arts.
I love buttons! I don't remember when I started collecting, but I have boxes of colorful buttons, which I sometimes incorporate into scrapbook pages or make into necklaces.
I love Washi Tapes! I'm addicted to washi tapes. I was in Japan when they first made washi tapes, back then there were only simple ones in one size with single colors. Nowadays the choices are endless! I'd love to add more to my collections. I think washi tape samples swap is a great idea.
One of the characters that I love is ... Elmer the Patchwork Elephant! He is so colorful and fun :) When I lived in Japan sometime around 2007-2008 there was Elmer boom and everywhere was selling cute Elmer merchandise. I regret not buying anything back then!
I have a special place in my heart for Japanese lucky doll Daruma. I wrote about Daruma for my graduation thesis, and when I lived in Japan I continuously visited places and attend festivals which has things to do with Daruma. I also have a collection of books on Daruma and some Daruma merchandises, unfortunately I had to leave most of my stuff when I moved back to Indonesia.
Postcards type wise, I prefer unique, creative photos/designs/illustrations than traditional touristy cards. Some of the things I like :
Colorful balloons - random bright colored stuff - art and crafts supplies (paints, buttons, laces etc) - Elmer the Elephant or other cute elephant illustrations - Alice in Wonderland - pink roses and things with the color rose pink - flowers, purple flowers, close up of flowers - Artworks of Alphonse Mucha, Andy Warhol, Erté, George Barbier, Cicely Mary Barker, Lia Selina - mythical creatures, fairies, mermaids, fantasy and steampunk-themed cards - Multiples - Cats - Moomin - Smurf - One Piece (anime/manga) - kumamon and other kawaii characters - K-Pop - cards of stamps or made of used stamps - daruma dolls/illustration - postal themed - fashion, shoes - butterflies (multiple and in art preferred instead of in the wild)
If you're an artist or photographer, I would love to see your artwork! :D Properly made handmade cards and unique ad cards are welcome!
More idea at my postcrossing favorites (these are the kinds of cards I would love to get)
Basically most paper products will please me
I'm sure there are other people who would appreciate these more than me! :)
I don't always put extras that are not required by the swap in my envelope, but I always make sure that I put enough thoughts, time and effort into what I send :)
Postal items from and to Indonesia do take a while to arrive, so if you happen to be partnered with me for a swap, I appreciate your patience :) I always rate within the same day as I receive your item. If you do not receive my item for more than a month after the date I marked it as sent, please let me know via message or email and I will resend.
