I was very active here, but life happened and I took a break for quite awhile. Got divorced, bought an old Victorian home, and became very active in creating assemblage art, which I enter in shows and galleries.
I love making something new out of something old. I really enjoy doing things with old children's books, especially collage. I've collaged a headboard, a toy piano, bowls, trays...everything but the kitchen sink!
I absolutely love making ATCs, particularly if I can draw parts of them or make mixed media collages using postage stamps. I am trying to make or collect an ATC with a postage stamp from every country!
For those new to making ATCs, I have posted some tips in the forums that you may find helpful. atc advice I also just started a blog that is all about ATCs. I post pics of mine and others, tips, techniques and tutorials.
I was inspired by a photo of JannieB's son's inchie collection so I started making inchies. I was quickly hooked, and my love of them may have surpassed my ATC addiction. My friends Donetta and Sheryl have now turned me onto BTCs...so many cool things to make!
I also dabble in zines, altered books, art journals, altered tins and encaustics. I just love all creative outlets!
Anything but country! Mostly 80's & 90's "alternative" rock, jazz, classic rock. Huge fan of U2, also REM, Modest Mouse, Missio, Imagine Dragons, Violent Femmes, Talking Heads, 10,000 Maniacs, Queen, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Billy Holiday, Iggy Pop, Smashing Pumpkins, the Lemonheads, Bare Naked Ladies and many more!
Divorced now, but have a great boyfriend. I have just one child, who is a sophomore in college. I am a college professor, and I share my home with a pointer mix named Chilly and a Yorkie named Reese. Both are rescues.
I love animals, gardening, art, travel, gaming, hiking and rehabbing my home, which was built in 1889. I have a massive Pez collection in my office that is now over 350!.
I love cars, specifically small, convertible sports cars: MGs, TR6, Miata, Z3, Z4, etc. I have a '98 Mercedes SLK230. It's red, and I named her Ruby as a nod to one of my all-time favorite movies, The Wizard of Oz....my license plates are "RBY SLPR"!
Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, Benny and Joon, Juno, Litte Miss Sunshine, Platoon, The Help, Anything with Johnny Depp.
Swap stuff I like include postage stamps, foreign coins, ATC supplies, paper, pictures and surprises! I can pretty much find a use for anything!
I don't think I can ever have enough embossing powder, brads or charms.
Anything with Wizard of Oz will be treasured.
I keep my ATC's arranged by themes. So far, these include Asian/Zen, famous people, cats, dogs, other animals, birds, butterflies, flowers, ladies, holidays, cities/countries, colors, cartoon characters, vintage, circus and in the style of different artists. I also keep a separate book for just those that are hand drawn or painted and one for zentangles.
I like logic puzzles, Sudoku and Scrabble-type word games on my iPad, which is the best invention of my lifetime! I have even developed apps of my own.
My favorite artists are Dali, Warhol, Monet, Klimt, Picasso and Renoir.
I'm not into angels, overly religious items, strong floral scents, Kawaii or "cookie-cutter" artwork. I like ATCs that are artistic. I don't like random gemstones or glitter added just for embellishment when it doesn't fit the composition of the card. Not a fan of buttons on ATCs either, as they are usually too big and seem too random.
