I love to get mail and send mail! Among friends and family, I'm well known for hand-drawing or painting our Christmas cards each year. I limit myself to 80, because beyond that it becomes dreaded work.
The older I get, the more I appreciate poetry and good writing.
I love to travel. Been to 5 continents and 15 countries, and 49 of the US states so far. All kinds of transportation. Love the NYC Subway and trains. Love to be on an airplane with the anticipation of landing somewhere new. I love maps and finding out-of-the-way locations. I think my passport will be buried with me in my grave. It's my most prized possession.
When I'm at home, my stress-relievers are watering my plants outside, prepping vegetables, and watching historical documentaries.
I subscribe to WAY TOO MANY magazines.
I am a dedicated public library user.
I've never had a pet, but the outdoor cat across the street, a black cate named Olive, knows exactly when I need her to come sit next to me on the front porch.
And I love chairs. I like to be resourceful with what I already have, being proud that I can make something functional out of nothing.
I have really taken a liking to birds. I think about building birdhouses all the time. I listen for the birds on my morning and evening walks and notice how different they are in all the places I have lived.
I don't have any kids. Never got into Hello Kitty and such. However, I used to work in Walt Disney World, so I have a good affinity for the classic Disney characters. Pooh was my favorite as a kid. As an adult... Kermit the Frog is my favorite. What a good attitude he always has! And I love everything Wendy from Peter Pan. WAIT. I AM Wendy from Peter Pan.
I'm your mainstream Christian. I listen to Christian music by default, but I also listen to classical music, old jazz, big band, old country, new country, showtunes, and Van Halen. Whoa. What kinda list is that?
Tea is for me. Coffee from time to time. But tea makes me tick. Started when I was living with a girl from Scotland one summer - Tracy. She was a hoot! Then I found specialty tea shops in NYC when I lived there, and I'm such a tea snob now I prefer to make my own tea bag combinations from loose tea. I especially like high mountain green teas from Taiwan and China. I prefer Asian teas to British tea; seems like a bigger variety. Herbal tea is okay. No chai or jasmine teas though. I got Coconut Mango Stash tea in a swap, and I love how it smells of whiskey! It is now my regular! LOL.
I am a middle child of three girls. I'm the one with the curly hair, and my sisters got the straight hair. Somehow I always got the worst seat in the car on trips. Boo. Middle age, middle child, middle American - discontentment and comfort all in one.
In October 2017 I married a wonderfully patient man named Matt who doesn't roll his eyes when I talk about the swaps I am in. We are carefree roadtrippers at this age of 50 and laugh a bunch. He's my golden ticket.
