I have never done a tombstone rubbing, and have always wanted to. I live in the country and have multiple small historical burial plots within a small distance of where I live. I have often walked through them and read the names and dates, and admired the craftmanship of the markers. As one of our first group swaps, I thought it would be interesting to do a swap of these rubbings. Rubbings should be done on 8.5 X 11 inch paper, or larger if design is a larger one. Charcoal, chalk, graphite, or rubbing wax may be used. If using chalk or charcoal, spray with a fixative after ward to avoid smearing. I have included some websites for tips on how to obtain a rubbing. If you go to a public cemetery, you may need permission to do this. | |
