Take a new, unused postcard - any postcard (free/ad, art, touristy) - and on the image side, using words clipped from books, magazines, newspapers, etc., compose a found poem. In short, alter the postcard by cutting and pasting words to it. Just words. If you are unfamiliar, found poetry is essentially a literary collage of text from printed and/or published sources. It is created by taking words, phrases or whole passages and rearranging, deleting or adding words until a new compilation of words is formed. The new poem does not have to make sense or be serious or have any deeper meaning other than you just thought the words looked good together. A great source for examples of cut-up found poetry can be found here: https://chocolateisaverb.wordpress.com/ Send your found poetry postcard naked and stamped. In the message section, maybe cite your source material for your found poem or what inspired your word selection. |
