For the recent swap I made the doll quilt you see at the top in my interpretation of a Teesha Moore creation. Of course I had to send it to my partner. But I got the idea to have a swap for Teesha Moore style quilt squares which you could put together into a doll quilt or anything else you can come up with. The squares should be constructed in the fashion (my interpretation) of a Teesha Moore fabric square. Take 2 squares (8in x8in) of different fabrics with a layer of batting between them. Most Teesha Moore tutorials have you stuff the squares - but if you are going to make a quilt - using batting instead will make the thickness more consistent. Sew all the way around through all the layers with a 5/8 seam. The next thing I do is trim the batting as close to the seam as possible so the border will not be too thick. Then fold the back fabric on the seam towards the front fabric to make a border. You do not have to turn the raw edges under. After that you can finish that square however you want. Then decorate your square in anyway you want - appliqué, embroidery, buttons, fabric paint, charms, etc. You will make 1 square for 1 partner. If there is enough interest I will host another one when this is done. Flickr pics of my ‘Thread the Needle Day’ swap mini-quilt can be found at https://www.flickr.com/gp/washdc09/270Vb7 (link above) in case they help with my explanation of making the squares.
