Description:

This will be an International, type 3 swap. It will be flat and inexpensive to mail, but you should take a while to write your story, so time is involved. I highly suggest you start the swap before sign up ends! These types of swaps can be fun, and can challenge you, but they can be really tough as well. :)

To start, you will need a found image. This can be a curious photo from a magazine or newspaper, something odd online, a random old photograph, or you can use images such as Tim Holtz paper dolls. (check out the swap image, or search online.) You don't have to purchase anything for this swap, just trying to give you some ideas of where to look. (In the US, Reminisce magazine is a great wealth of photos like this!) Take your time looking, and find something with lots of character! You WILL need to include the picture or a very good photo copy of the picture with your swap. So be prepared to send your picture.

The photo should be 'PG' - as in no nudity, etc...

Once you have your photo, write a short story about the picture, the people in the picture, the setting. Your story needs to be at least one page long but you can always write more if you're feeling creative!

This story can be handwritten (if it's neat and clear enough for your partner to read) or typed. That's up to you. The page should be about one standard 8.5x11 (or A4) sheet. If you want to create a booklet to display your story and picture, you may do that, just be sure the text is at a minimum this size. I did a swap like this years ago, and my partner made a small booklet, like a zine, for her story with the picture on the front cover and it was very cute. :) But, that option is up to you!

There will be a longer lead time on this swap, so you can find your picture and get started before sign up, so you will have 2 weeks from sign up to send by.

As I understand postal regulations and prices are changing all over, hopefully you can do this swap without costing too much. That's my goal with this one. I think if you keep it flat, it can send as a regular letter. :)

Recap:

You will have 1 partner to send your found photo and short story of at least one page.

You will have 2 weeks from sign up to send by.

Your story does need to be written in English, as that seems to be the common language for the group. But please don't worry if your writing isn't "perfect". This isn't a school assignment, so just try your best and have fun. :)

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please send me a PM as I'm terrible at remembering to check the comments section, and may miss your comment.

The images that I will probably use are similar to those in the swap picture (I got a packet on sale, and have been trying to find the right time to use them!)
