To celebrate International Women's Day (March 8th), mark this date by making a minizine about the subject. Perhaps it could be about a particular famous woman in history, or a little series of illustrated portraits of influential/inspiring women, or a tiny pocket handbook about the feminist movement, riotgrrrl, violence against women, activism, reproductive rights, pregnancy, LGBTQ, transwomen, whatever you like... The minimum requirements for this swap is one minizine mailed to 2 partners. At the end of the swap you should therefore have 3 minizines celebrating International Women's Day (including your own). A minizine is a tiny 8-page booklet made from one single page of A4. See how to make one here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/elizabethgenco/sets/72157594276405114/ It's easy! Just make one up and then photocopy it to make as many copies as you like! For extra hearts why not double it up to make a 16 page booklet, or make a bigger 1/4 size zine or whatever you like, so long as it is at least the equivalent of one regular page of A4 or more. You could also put other relevant surprises into the zine (eg. a feminist badge/pin, an ATC...) if you feel like it. The object of this swap is not about the content of the zines but on the effort put into them. The idea is to get people thinking about International Women's Day (http://www.internationalwomensday.com) and women's rights - therefore anybody is welcome! Men are welcome to join in the swap, as are newbies with a filled out profile. |
