Description: | |
I recently discovered painted coins, and thought it could make for an interesting swap. In this swap, take a coin, any coin and paint it. Don't just paint it one color and call it a work of art, actually paint something on it. You can paint the scene that is imprinted on the coin, you can make it "pop art" style, or paint your own little painting, or turn it in to a painted coin necklace or other jewelry. Please seal the painting somehow, with varnish, resin, or even clear nail polish, or maybe with a clear cabochon. It is important to note, that while it is legal to paint coins, once they have been painted they can not be used in circulation, for cash value, any longer. Here are some examples: You should be able to mail these in a standard envelope. I do ask that you tape the coin to your card so its not floating around the envelope. Plus if your envelope tears in transit the coin should still be safe as it will be taped to the card. You can wrap it in a piece of plastic or put it in a mini envelope or ATC sleeve, if you like, but still tape it to the card. Sender's choice on theme. If you would like to turn your painted coin in to jewelry or use it in another craft, like a bookmark or maybe make it a magnet you may, but that is not required. All that is required is that you paint one side of one coin, and send it to your one partner. Any type of coin may be used. Have fun. |
