Sketch Game: Exquisite Corpse (3 of 3), US Only

Exquisite corpse is a drawing game where multiple people collaborate to create a character without being able to see each others work. It was invented by surrealists and results in very silly characters. Please read carefully, the instructions for this round have steps for both the sender and the recipient!

IF YOU WERE IN PREVIOUS ROUNDS

1. Don't look under the post-it note(s)!

2. You will be drawing in the next blank section of the paper, using the small visible lines as a starting point. If only 1/3 has been drawn on, draw a torso for the character, starting at the shoulders and going down to the hips. Do not draw legs! Extend the edges of the hips slightly into the bottom third of the paper (think 1/8-1/4inch of line visible when folded). If 2/3 have been drawn on, draw legs and feet on the last, blank third.

3. Now you can look under the post-it note(s), but don't peel them off. How's your character looking? :)

4. Add a post-it covering your drawing, so no drawings are visible on the sheet.

5. Add your name, username, and date to the back of the sheet.

6. Send the folded drawing and the Round 1 self-addressed envelope along to your partner in another envelope.

IF YOU WERE NOT IN PREVIOUS ROUNDS:

1. Fold a sheet of paper into thirds, like you would to mail a regular sized letter.

2. On the top third only, draw a character's head and shoulders. Make sure that the shoulders extend slightly into the middle section (think 1/8-1/4 inch of line visible when folded), so it will be visible when the top is folded over. Take 5-10 minutes for this drawing.

3. When you finish, please stick a post-it note over your drawing, so your partner will not see it on accident!

4. On the back of the sheet, please write your name, username, the date, and "Sketch Game: Exquisite Corpse".

5. Stamp and self address an envelope, then put your folded drawing inside.

6. Put it in another envelope, and mail this to your partner!

BECAUSE THIS IS THE FINAL ROUND, here's what to do when you RECEIVE your swap from your partner:

IF the drawing has all three sections covered, you can take the post-it notes off. Your job is to give the character a name and a short backstory on the back of the sheet after adding your name, username, and the date. Then put it in the included envelope and send it home!

IF the drawing is not finished, your job is to do the next section without looking under the notes (1 section done means you draw the torso/arms on the middle third and add 1/8-1/4 lines of the hips extending into the blank bottom third, 2 sections done means you draw the legs/feet). Sign the back with your name, username, and date.

When the drawing gets back home, the original artist can finish the legs/feet if needed and then take the post-it notes off, or just enjoy their new character with backstory if all thirds have been completed. Feel free to add a photo of the finished character to the profiles of your partners throughout the swap!
