International, 1 partner, time intensive but flat to mail

I got this idea from someone's profile page, but I cant' remember who it was! The plan is for everyone who signs up to read the same book, Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement C Moore , comment on it in real time (as you read it) and send your comments to your partner. I know this is a busy time of year for people, so I wanted to choose a book that would be easy to find, quick to read, something most folks are familiar with, and something you might already share with those close to you over the season. If this works out and everyone likes the plan, we can discuss other books to focus on in future rounds.

If you don't have a copy of this book, you can buy one new or used, you can get a library copy. You don't need to send the book (this time!). You can do the ebook version, but make sure you keep notes as you read.

For this swap, it's going to be pretty quick and minimal notes. As I said, this is a trial version. While you read the book, think of these topics:

What feelings come to you as you read? Do you have happy memories of hearing this story? Or sharing it with others?

If someone read the book to you, do you associate their voice with the book? How does it make you feel?

What do/don't you think makes sense with this story? What parts can be fun and silly for younger people, but then feel silly as you have gotten older?

Did you share this book with anyone this year? Or do you plan to? Does your family share this story/poem at Christmas time often?

Feel free to add any other thoughts you have about this story, this experience, etc.

There are thousands of versions of this book. You can choose anything, but try to go for the 'original' story over a character version (So, maybe not Bluey's Night Before Christmas, for example). If you need a copy, I would suggest: Target Better World Books Thriftbooks ABE books Amazon Really, this might be one of the easiest books of all time to find, anywhere. If you are outside the US, feel free to read the version in your language. If you are in the US and speak another language, feel free to get that version! Really, it's up to you.

So, you find a copy of the book, read it, take notes on the story as you read. When partners are assigned, send those notes to your partner (maybe in a holiday card?). Be sure to write the swap title and your SB ID with the swap, so your partner can quickly rate you.

If you like this idea and would like to do it with a regular book, please let me know! If you have book suggestions, feel free to pass those on as well. I had originally wanted to keep the notes with the book, but I want to keep swaps lightweight, so we'll just do the notes.
