This swap sounds interesting. I have tons of books, mostly mysteries in hard back. I'm a newbie so where do I begin?

SwapQueen, here are the steps to take:

Step 1: join the swap

Step 2: wait until partners are assigned on Feb. 15 (or within three says or so after) then read your partner's profile (click on their Swap-bot username in the box that opens with you click on "See Who Your Partner is" in the upper right corner of this page)

Step 3: choose a pleasing book for your partner, and wrap it, and a card or note with your name, username, and the name of the swap, securely in a sturdy envelope or box.

Step 4: Mail it using Media Mail to save money--go to USPS.com and calculate the postage if you have a scale to weigh your package--otherwise take it to the post office.

Step 5: Click on the "Click Here when you have sent your item" link in the upper right of this page.

Step 6: wait for a book to come in the mail from your own partner, and be sure to rate them! Click on the "Rate your partner" link above right.

Count Me In!! I have a bunch of books that I would love to swap. Computers, design, web, mysteries, romance, etc....

Thanks. Moncammy

quainthomesteader 02/ 5/2010 #

have you heard of www.paperbackswap.com ?

wolfeagle 02/ 5/2010 #

No. Thanks for the info.

kgeslab 02/ 5/2010 #

or bookmooch.com? That's a great site for trading books!

wolfeagle 02/ 5/2010 #

Cool. Thanks.

CountryClubKat 02/ 6/2010 #

Oh yeah!

Saulute 02/ 6/2010 #

That's fun!

Aayla 02/ 6/2010 #

It says regional US. Is this US only or are Canadians welcome.

Swan 02/ 7/2010 #

With US only, we can send Media Mail. To Canada we would have to send as a regular parcel (international to Canada) which could be a lot more expensive. I think that's the reason it's US only.

Aayla 02/ 7/2010 #

I totally understand. I used to work in a post office. Parcel can get pricey when they go international. Especially if they are hard cover or large books.

CandyStar 02/ 8/2010 #

www.bookcrossing.com is also a great site to track the books that you send to people. :D Also in the forums they have some awesome book swapping things :)

PATHACKER 02/ 8/2010 #

count me in...i would even be happy with quilting magazines...lol...i love books on quilting

quainthomesteader 02/ 9/2010 #

Now a magazine swap would be awesome, because paperbackswap.com won't swap magazines!

wolfeagle 02/10/2010 #

I do love my art or crafting magazines. Sharing with each other could be fun.

ollie 02/10/2010 #

Please note that with Media Mail, there can only be the book sent, no notes, correspondence, bookmarks, extras, etc. The post office has the right to open your package if they suspect you're using Media Mail for anything other than that and may return your package to you if you enclose anything other than the book. Or worse, they will deliver it COD to you partner.

badandknowsit2 02/11/2010 #

i dont have many books can i just go and buy one

wolfeagle 02/11/2010 #

@badandknowsit2 Yes, you can buy one and send it to your partner. Thrift stores and used book stores are great places to find used books.

rudder 02/12/2010 #

I love ALL BOOKS! Just don't need kids books right now! THANKS! Autobiographies and biographies are my current favs!

Swan 02/12/2010 #

ollie, you can include a shipping label, but no personal correspondence. So a not with just the swap name and your name and username for identification should be ok.

Swan 02/13/2010 #

... a note...

jcm716 02/15/2010 #

Will partners be assigned soon as today is the 15th?

wolfeagle 02/15/2010 #

Yes, I assign partners the day after the swap closes, even though swap-bot allows one week for hosts to check all the profiles, drop members and assign partners. You now have your partner and are ready to swap. Have fun! And please remember that you do not have to wait until the send by date to send your book, you can mail it as soon as you have it ready. Thank you all so much for joining this swap.

Ssusiesthimbles 02/16/2010 #

I love quilting magazines, sewing magazines, crafting magazines, collecting books/magazines, easy read mysteries, cooking, pretty much anything...lol

RaisingAlexis 02/18/2010 #

I sent my book out today ... let me know how you like it! :)

PATHACKER 02/26/2010 #

I mailed mine out Wednesday 2-24. I hope my partner likes it
