About Me

I'm a self employed pet sitter and I have 2 kids, 3 cats and a 4 chickens.

Favorite Crafts

I like to crochet, and I also make small collages from magazines and catalogs, esp postcards.

Favorite Books

I like non fiction, but when I have the time I love science fiction and fantasy.

Favorite Television

Game of Thrones, Star Trek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Good Girls, The Twilight Zone,

Preferences/Wishlist

Above all: Quaint, Frugal, and Handmade are better than fads and fashion. Also, I'm not a very "foo-fooy" or frilly person... I like utilitarian.

Colors: My favorite color is purple, but I'm also fond of blue and green. I'm not too keen on pink or anything fluorescent. I prefer "earth tones".

Collections: Owls, Chickens, Semi-Precious stones, music boxes, and elongated pennies!!

Spirituality: Unitarian Universalist symbols and principles.

Foods: I prefer recipes to food items. I also like tea. I'm not a big fan of NutraSweet, but we do use Splenda. Or if you have a coupon for a dessert item or for an ingredient, like chocolate chips, that would rock! Recipes using Oatmeal or beans from dried beans would be great too.

Wishlist: Milk jug rings: I crochet ornaments with them, and with all the powdered milk I use, we don't get a hold of them often.

Yarn: Even if you just have some left over scrap ball the size of a golf ball, I can make a scrunchie from it. I would also like anything cotton, or other natural fiber. That said, I'm not picky, any yard will be loved!

Elastic Hair bands: I make so many scrunchies, I can always use a pack of hair bands from the dollar store. Without the metal clasps, please. Thanks!

Swaping Philosophy

I believe that a swapper with a 4.6 or better is a swapper in good standing. We can't expect perfection all the time, and unexpected events can delay any of us. I will always rate better when there is communication with me, so please PM if you have a problem. I also pledge to rate every swap I receive and hope I will be rated as well. If someone is unhappy with what they receive or if it's lost in the mail I will try to replace it.

Comment: I love this postcard! Where did you find the statue pic? It's so cool and I really like the onion stickers, overall you did a great job! This is going in my Book!
Response: I get a catalog called "GaelSong" which is where I found the statue. The onions are tulip bulbs I cut from a flower catalog. I'm glad you like it! I also recommend "The Pyramid Collection" catalog for pagan themed collageing. ;)

Welcome to swapbot! I am a frugal home-grown food person, too. You seem to know exactly what you are doing here, so I hope you have lots of fun. Best regards.

I'm so glad you're able to make something cute out of the yarn! I hope they're warm (and I heard about that big snowstorm you're having...brrr!)

Jaelle on Jan 23, 2010:

Um, are we sending these naked or in envelopes? I'd prefer to send mine in an envelope but I can do naked.... marker+water = not so hot goods to be getting. Also, if I send it in an envelope, I can stick in some extra goodies.... which I appear to be wanting to do.

Welcome to swap-bot! I am a very practical person myself. I was intrigued by your idea of a seed swap. I have been unable recently, but have grown heirloom veggies, mostly tomatoes in the past. Gardenweb.com used to have an active seed swap specific to heirlooms. You may want to check it out. BTW what is your profile on PBS? Happy Swapping! Joan
