Description:

OK I HAVE CHANGED THE DETAILS OF THIS SWAP AND AM LEAVING IT OPEN FOR ANOTHER WEEK - THIS WAS THE SEA MAIL SWAP BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE COULDN'T SIGN UP.

I love doing huge swaps, but the postage can be a downer especially when it costs as much as the swap items themselves.

So for this swap there will be a MIN PRICE to spend, so you can send heaps of things to that price (or more) or 1 huge or expensive thing to that price so long as it is from your partners profile of likes/wishlist etc.

How it will work is, you will only have 1 partner, you spend a MIN of $25 on your partner before postage, (if you see something that cost more you can spend more but you cannot spend less). Remember you are going to get an equally fabulous parcel as well.

You can send it in a box or wrap it in brown paper or in a package, however you want, so long as it gets there safely.

It is profile based, so you must check out your partners profile and send things appropriately. So you MUST have a well filled out profile or you cannot join swap, lots of likes, hobbies, wishlist, food likes etc.

I will give 3 weeks to find your stuff.

REMEMBER to check your postal services as to what you can send to what country (ie Australia you cannot send seeds to)

Swap requirements:

  • MUST have rating of 5 (if you have a slightly less rating but it is explanable please email me and I will check it out) and I will be checking all participants out.

  • MUST have a very well filled out profile.

Sorry no newbies (even though I am a newbie at swap-bot myself I have been swapping for years in yahoo groups, and I know the newbie frustration but this is too big to be flaked on)

If you have any questions or comments or additives please post as I am open to ideas etc (such as having 4 weeks to fill the box as I am flexible)

In inches this package is approximately 16" x 11.5" x 5.5" ?

Hmmm...what if, and this is very likely depending on who signs up for this swap and where they live, you get a partner in the same country? No sense in sending by Sea Mail from California to Idaho, for instance, or France to Spain.

This can be a very expensive swap. From USA to another country. Yes, it will cost you more than what the articles are worth. Yes, I do know all about this. I sent a package overseas and my goodness did it cost me my pay check.

There are some places who will not take sea mail, Like Norfolk Island, Newzealand, and Asia Pacific. Austrailia is extreamly picking when it caome to the packaging of sea mail. If you send glass or even clay and it is not wraped to there likeing then it will not make it to your partner. You can get more info on this by going to auspost.com. Or by doing a search for snail mail.. Watching for now

I asked at my Post Office about sending something by ship (or, "sea mail") and was told that they don't do it anymore as a routine mailing technique, that it all goes by air overseas now. Maybe they were wrong, or maybe just the mail from where I live? Not sure..just thought I'd mention it.

@candigirl What the folks at the post office told you was correct. There used to be a slower, cheaper international option with the USPS, but they got rid of it in the last year or two. Everything goes by plane now, so that's why shipping a package internationally from the US is more expensive now than it used to be. Granted, the slow option didn't have the best success in getting stuff to its destination (or took months to arrive), but still.

So I guess folks in the US can't sign up for this swap, unless there is an option for "sea mail" with another shipping company besides USPS, UPS, and FedEx.

Oh wow I didn't know that they had taken away sea mail from some countries that really sucks, hmm maybe I will have to rethink this then, as obv someone can sign up and send normal mail but it's gonna cost a heap.

My country (Holland) doesn't have Sea Mail anymore either. They got rid of it a few years ago. All they do is Air Mail these days. Bummer. This was a fun idea though :)

Sea Mail? I don't have that option here [Philippines]. From what I know sea mail here is only available for large and heavy cargos.
