Hi! I'm Rosalie, a 60-something-year-old wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and artist. My passions are family, home, and art. I believe handwritten letters are love wrapped in paper, a handmade life is an artful life, and art is the voice of the soul.
I am active in our local art association where I take classes, show my work, and volunteer in a variety of ways. I enjoy doing graphite drawings, watercolors, and oil paintings on canvas. I'm a point-and-shoot, amateur digital photographer and use the photos as resource material for my art and to print postcards, greeting cards, and photo books.
An avid journal keeper for more than 20 years, I have recently begun to explore contemplative and poetry writing, art journal keeping, and altered books.
Reading is also one of my great loves and there is virtually no genre I don't enjoy. I always have a book open and at least ten on the shelf awaiting its turn. There's nothing better than curling up with a cup of coffee or cocoa and getting lost in a book.
Postcards have been a great love of mine ever since I was a girl and I have always enjoyed both sending and receiving them. I get excited about all sorts of postcards, even vintage and free/ad cards, and I don't collect any particular kind or category. In fact, although I save each and every postcard that finds its way to my mailbox, I'm not really a "collector" in the traditional sense at all. For me, the joy is in the sending and receiving.
My favorite postcards to receive are ones that come written, stamped with interesting real stamps, and naked (even if they get a little ragged around the edges in their travels). These are the postcards that go into my permanent collection. So, please write a little personal note, stick a stamp on it, and drop it in the mail!
Although I don't save blank postcards, I also join PCs-in-Envie swaps because they increase the possibilities for participating in interesting naked postcard swaps in the future.
It is always a special treat to receive a card from someone's hometown or travels that gives me a peek at a place I've never been. I enjoy "traveling" the world via the postcard express. So, show me your town/city, state/province, or country.
Also, I am as interested in the person who sends the card as I am in the card itself and appreciate being able to read a little handwritten note, poem, quote, quirky fact, or piece of trivia. Writing something more than what is required by the swap captures my heart every time!
