Hi all. I am taking a break. Will be back to check in as able.
I am a Christian. I grew up in the 70's. I can sing along to most of the top 40's of the era. I live in Louisiana where I was born and raised with my husband and our 9 pound black & white domestic short hair who answers to Sammy when he so desires. I am a pediatric nurse who loves to cook and craft.
Country, 70's & 80's Pop... Do I have to choose?
When I have a bad day or life seems to be really throwing me a curve ball, like having a deluge of water fall for yet a second time, I think of Jamie Owens Collins song Hard Times.
"Just remember, the rains to help you grow...The hard times make you strong."
How about Kenny Rogers, "I am The Greatest". We just need to look at the situation from another perspective.
Cozy Mysteries, romance, even a little Sci-Fi... Audio Books are the best, I can listen while driving!
Lately I've been immersing myself in books taking place in Louisiana.
Don't laugh, PBS I love Agatha Christie, Piroit, Sherlock Holmes, Death in Paradise, & Keeping up Appearances to name a few.
Lately I've been binging "new" old stuff on NetFlix.
Collecting recipes, especially family favorites & pretty recipe cards.
Cooking with my husband. Walking-ok more of a goal than a hobby.
Reading & Writing- I keep my kindle on hand, you never know when you have to wait in line or your appointment is going to be pushed back by an hour or 2. Writing-I've always wanted to write, now I am beginning to dabble.
Photography, can you call it photography if all you do is point & shoot, but isn't it great when that picture comes out, or even better when you find something extraordinary that you did not even realize you were taking.
Crochet, my all time favorite craft- any night (or in my case morning) after work, you can find me crocheting a few rows of my latest project, while watching a favorite TV show. I can spend hours just browsing in the yarn isle. The colors and textures amaze me. Sometimes I can pick up a skein and know exactly the perfect pattern to turn it into a piece of art. My current crochet projects revolve around baby blankets & amigurumi.
My favorite scripture is Psalms 23, there are more...
My favorite prayer is Our Father (Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4)
Buttons, beads, yarn, unusual paper, smooth stones, crafted wood, pottery, textureรขโฌยฆ Flat item swaps: Stickers, book marks, post cards, unusual cancelled stamps... Anything that tells a story, it can be about you, where you are from or just something you find interesting. I love Christmas, and holidays. Don't concentrate on what I would like, tell me about you by sending something you would like. Send me your favorite quote or bible verse. Send a book mark that lists your favorite books. A post card from your home town... Just write a little note about the items you chose, or even what you wanted to send but couldnรขโฌโขt! Things made by hand...
Recently I have received some second hand local cookbooks- LOVE them!
When I was younger mom gave me her copy of the Joy of Cooking where I learned the rules of cooking. Learning to cook by rules was important because Mom's recipes or receipts as she called them were often just a list of ingredients with vague directions, "add just enough water to..." and the all helpful "cook until done". My favorite part of a recipe is the story it tells. Our family Cookbook would not have been complete without the story of my dad explaining that Gramma always added well washed river rocks into the pot to make the beans extra creamy, (Gramma denied it when my sister-in-law asked how she chose the rocks, Dad still swears it is true!) I love learning about your cooking traditions. Chocolate, of course! Teas, Coffee... Seafood, Tex Mex, Gramma's home cooking!

Hey girl. I sure hope all is well for you! I had to remove you from The Christian Homestead for lack of group swap in over a year, but if you return to the 'Bot and I'll add you right back in!
