{Hello!} I've joined swap-bot because I LOVE sending and receiving mail that is fun and doesn't require me to pay a bill :) I am a wife and a mother to two sweet energetic little boys.
I am a licensed teacher but recently left the profession to pursue other interests. The profession may have changed but the love of learning has not! I love learning new things and building on my creativity.
Since the beginning of the Pandemic I have focused a lot of time and energy into my art. I have officially started selling my art and have even went to a couple markets this year. This is a huge step out of my comfort zone but I am finding this is the 'truest version of me' there has been. I largely do abstract mixed media pieces on paper and canvas with bold happy colours. You can check out my work at CheyanneBertrandArt.ca or on Instagram as Cheyanne Bertrand Art. I continue to run my etsy shop Grandma's Suitcase but have slowed down the rate at which I release new postcard designs. Life is busy.
I work a 9-5 office job during the week and art is my side hustle that keeps my heart happy
I love a mix of vintage style with modern colours
I have done some travelling but that's been on hold since having my sons. I did a 4 week teaching placement in Clacton-on-Sea England, lived in Trinidad and Tobago for a year and moved to Saskatchewan and enjoyed the prairies for 6 months but have always considered Ontario, Canada home :) I'm a country girl at heart
Crafting:
I love to paint and collage and explore different colour schemes. Even as my art practise changes I still enjoy making ATCs and growing my collection. Due to my arthritis and health issues over the past two years many of my other creative hobbies have fallen off my radar at the moment (ie. Crocheting) but hope to get back into it as my treatment continues to help
Favourites:
ATC/APC cards/coins - These are my favourite thing to make when feeling creative! - stamped images, scraps of different paper etc. are always appreciated to work into my atc cards
I love art journaling but find I don't do as much of it as I used to
All Colours! but the colour yellow (specifically golden/mustard yellow), teal, lime green and dark blue tend to be what I pick the most
Zines! I've been experimenting making my own
Paper Doilies, paper napkins, lace and vintage scraps of fabric/linens
Friday Kahlo or Jane Davenport inspired anything!
things with a story or history - like old pictures and postcards!
Cancelled stamps! I love using them in my art journal and on ATCs
Postcards: naked is my favourite but I just started getting into post-crossing so in an envelope is nice sometimes too! I prefer postcards of places and local/famous landmarks, art and historical items. Single view postcards are my favourite but anything you pick out will be appreciated :)
colourful paper, magazine and book pages to use in journals and collages are always appreciated!
Dislikes:
Rude people and bananas

Happy Friday!!
Thank you for sending back my set for the buddy card swap! They are all so gorgeous; I love what you did to each starter! Take care
Just a quick note to thank you for the swaps you host on All about ATC. I'm really enjoying your themes. :)
You're never going to believe- but the ATC I thought was your re-send, was apparently the original one! I just received the re-send today. The ATC is amazing and I really appreciate both cards, thank you! ~Tracy
Thank you for being my Angel and thank you for the squirrel ephemera :) :)
