I am the educational director of Abrakadoodle DFW / Mid Cities.
Abrakadoodle, the popular national arts education program, offers art classes, art camps and art parties for children ages 20 months to 12 years old. Art programs are offered at schools and other convenient community locations though our mobile art education program.
Some of my favorite authors include: Dan Brown, Charlaine Harris, Laurell K. Hamilton, Mitch Albom, Kathleen McGowan, Marlo Morgan, Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein. Pretty much, I just love books...especially if I get to read in a bubble bath. Calgon take me away........
Too many movies, too little time! Some of my all time favorites are Gone with the Wind, Jaws, Moulin Rouge, Under the Tuscan Sun, Apollo 13, Shaun of the Dead, Love Actually, 30 days of night, Goodfellas, The shining, The Notebook, Stand By Me, Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball, Frida, Interview with a Vampire, 300, Amelie, Clerks, A Christmas Story, Reality Bites, Almost Famous, Chocolat, Girl Interrupted, Mary Poppins, Planet Terror...
Antique photos, rubber stamps, anything astrological, psychic or palmistry related, neat ephemera, creativity-inducers, wire ribbon, unique (non-holiday) wrapping paper, cute monsters (like ugly dolls), all things New Orleans, anything campy, kitschy, or retro in either content or pattern, foreign print, stamps, trinkets anything that is a reflection of another culture, antique books, tea-reading teacups, anything orange or the colors of autumn, little purse-sized notebooks, organizational materials, maps, boxes, Buddhas & Vishnu images; Zen writing, images & brush work; wax seals, quirky gifts, old keys, funky dish towels, tarot cards (all kinds), unique playing cards or games. Anything with an antiqued finish to it. Anything made by YOU!
Over the top girlie stuff, anything with peanuts (I'm allergic), store bought stuff that anyone can find and buy, anything preachy. Highly perfumed items and the smell of cigarette smoke are a definite nooooooooo!!!! Also, I'm not a sports enthusiast.
I love all assemblages, anything with found art, ATCs and cute "ugly" dolls or dottee dolls. I wish I knew how to sew, but after a shirt and skirt project gone wrong in high school home economics I never tried again. (And I never wore the outfit I made either!)
If you sew, please feel free to send me a homemade goodie that you made... a little purse, dish towel, pillow, doll, etc. I would LOVE it!
For some reason I can't seem to keep track of my pens even though I love them!
There's nothing like a cool new FINE point pen, black ink preferably, and a new pad of untouched paper. I also love journals and moleskine notebooks. And I definitely could not live without my trusty day planner and all my to-do lists! I also love spiral notebooks and new art supplies. (I fondly remember the excitement of buying new school supplies as a kid. Wasn't that just the best!)
I'm addicted to coffee and tea. But strangely enough I'm not a chocolate fan although I do like cocoa and hot chocolate. (I didn't say it was logical.) I also love spicy foods since I was born and raised in New Orleans. Tabasco sauce is a staple in my home along with yummy hot salsas, since I now live in Texas.
