June 21st: I shan't be swapping for the time being as I simply don't have the time. I hope to get back to it in the not too distant future.
My name is Emma, I'm a 21 year old Physics student with a collection of crafty bits.
When not plotting the downfall of the world using a system of complex lasers I tend to have my nose buried in a book, be breaking my arms playing too many computer games, or getting myself covered in paint and glue.
On sunny days I can often be found wandering the streets picking up bits of plants and peering curiously at the wildlife; usually with a camera in hand.
I'm part of the GameSoc and CircusSoc at my University and spend a couple of evenings a week throwing around dice or juggling!
I have a lovely 25 litre aquarium in my room. It contains 12 harlequin rasboras (The Lads), a golden ram (Goldie), 2 blue rams (Sharky & George), a blue male siamese fighting fish (Marv) and a plec (Pleccy!). I hope to have a photo up of it soon.
I am a Christian by faith, but far from any traditional definition. The behaviour of most of the Christian community tends to make me angry. Anyway, point: I won't preach, fear not.
Anything to do with nature. I have a particular love of underwater wildlife and spend far too much of my money on aquarium entrance fees. I tend to spend time in the summer snorkeling and wishing I had gills like the chap from Water World.
Big Kitties, especially Tigers. Wolves.
I've been harbouring an obsession with cultures been and gone since childhood. If I had to pick a favourite I suppose it would be Native American, but I really do love them all.
Religious symbols, stories and rituals. I love having a collection of knowledge and items from all faiths. But, if you wish to send me something of my own faith, I have a great love of the celtic themed Christian art and items.
One of my most treasured possessions is an old edition of Andersen & Grimm fairytales that I happened upon in a second hand bookshop some years ago. I love all things fairytale and myth, especially the creatures.
I tend to prefer the older versions of fairytales. They seem to talk down to children less, leaving in the slightly darker aspects.
Unusual Photos.
Concept Art.
I was raised on a healthy diet of sci-fi by my Dad, and shunted along quietly by my studies in science, I am still very fond of the genre. The Firefly and Battlestar Galactica universes are beautifully woven.
There's a little treasure trove of comic books in my room, my favourites being Batman, Sandman, and Kill Your Boyfriend.
I am a bit of a Warcraft universe addict having played all the games in the series. I especially love trolls and orcs.
Wind.
Old leather books. Especially science and nature ones. There is something very enchanting about they way they write them, so amazed and enthralled by the wonder of discoveries that they don't quite understand.
I'm not a great fan of sewing, I like doodling and sticking. As such Chunky Pages and ATCs appeal to me most. I think inchies will be an on and off love of mine as they are so very small!
I like to collect bits and bobs, little scraps of handmade paper, magazine cuttings, beads, buttons that fell off my slippers, leftover bits of wool. I'm a great believer that nothing should be wasted when it could be turned into something shiny.
My taste varies from the natural and complex to the simple and brightly coloured. I enjoy patterns as well as pictures, and have a love for collaged stuff and trinkety things that I can run my fingers over or fiddle with, rather than simply look at.
Glitter is often fun.
I'm not a great fan of the very cutesy, though sometimes it catches me on the right day.
If I recieve something that's been made with some thought and love, chances are I'll be chuffed with it.
I feel like I should pick a favourite colour. It seems the done thing. Really I'm fond of the entire spectrum but I guess my favourites are: purples, blues, reds, and natural green/browns.
I don't like pink! Unless it is socks, I like pink socks.
