You can call me Zelda. I'm just a gal from the US who likes swapping and interacting with people from all over. I'm a crafty person and movie lover who is hoping to find others who have similar interests and might just enjoy some maybe-not-so-ordinary-swaps. And I'm always on the lookout for one of your fabulous swaps!
Here are a few things about me...
I'm a HUGE movie lover! Pretty much anything and everything. My favorite though is Horror. I personally think Horror is a wide genre and includes many styles of film. I love it all but my go-to is a really good Thriller with a nice twist or two. I love working my way through themed watchlists. Since the lock down I have missed going to the theater so much! I went every week, sometimes twice a week, but I have more than made up for it in the amount of movies/shows I have consumed in the last year.
Favorite TV - I love old black and white like Twilight Zone, Hitchcock, Thriller, Bewitched, The Addams Family, The Munsters and watch a lot of late night MeTV. A lot of modern shows that fit in the thriller/mystery category.
True Blood. Love it! Miss it! My favorites - Merlotte's, Fangtasia and Mr. Northman. But really, I love it all. I purchased a few pieces from auction after it went off the air. The restroom sign from Merlotte's, the "No Lingering in the Parking Lot" sign from Fangtasia and my absolute favorite... Mr Squirrel from behind the bar at Merlotte's. I'm so not the person that would have a taxidermy animal but I love, love, love Mr Squirrel. If you ask him, he was the star of the show.
Mr Squirrel on set with the Beer Nuts.
Mr Squirrel at home... with his eye on the TV.
I love to travel. My favorite is a good road trip. I've done some big road trips in the last few years but the best was a month long trip down Route 66. What a crazy and amazing experience! I can't wait to get back out there again once the world is back to somewhat normal.
I've been to Europe, Canada, Mexico and a large portion of the US. Would love to visit Cuba, Egypt and... well everywhere actually.
I love lots of different crafts. A few I've been enjoying lately...
Paper Crafting
Sending Snail Mail/Happy Mail
Scrapbooking/Junk Journaling
Interactive Journal/Books - Books like Wreck This Journal, Create This Book, etc. I have about all of them but yet to use very many. You know how it goes.
Crochet - While I learned the very basics when I was younger from my mom it's only in the last 1.5 years that I've really been learning. I've done lots of fun swaps here and they have helped my crochet skills immensely!
I prefer to use acrylic yarn. The fancier yarns are pretty but I prefer plain old acrylic. I tend to use mostly worsted weight 4 but I am open to other weights. Sometimes it's nice to have something a little thinner or fun to have something a little chunkier. And, while I love the look of it, no yarns with the tinsel wrapped around the strand. It's so pretty but every time I've tried to use it the tinsel is broken in so many spots.
When it comes to yarn I use pretty much any color. On that note, I'm not as fond of pastels so those would be my least favorite. I do love Chartreuse so any yellowy greens or greenish yellows are great. I loved Limeade by Caron (from the One Pound Century Collection) but that's been discontinued. I'm always on the lookout for something similar.
Please no wool or anything from Hobby Lobby.
Here are some styles and things I enjoy in crafting and life...
Moomins Please! - This is something that is newer to me but I do just love them. Not something we have much of here in the US so anything you might like to share I would love. I just love my little Moomintroll.
The Ghastlies - This is a fabric series designed by Alexander Henry. I just love it!
Vintage/Retro - This is the feel I use for most of my paper crafting/scrapbooking/junk journaling styled crafts. Vintage ladies (especially from the 20's - 60's) are a favorite but anything that has this style or feel to it is great.
Halloween/Darker Themed - Halloween anytime of year is perfectly acceptable with me. I love bats, black cats, fortune tellers, astrology, ravens, and anything witchy. Preferably with a vintage/retro look or at least more grownup styled. Nothing too childlike or cutesy.
Art Deco - Roaring Twenties, flappers, the music and Zelda Fitzgerald. I use a lot of vintage ladies from this era in my crafting projects. Love it!
Book Pages - I love using real book pages in my crafting. I could definitely use more pages with foreign text, poem/poetic content, music or dictionary styled pages. And, of course, anything older is great.
Paper Ephemera - When I do Junk Journal/Scrapbook styled activities I'm always wishing I had more bits and pieces to create layered looks. Paper Die Cuts or other paper ephemera goodies in the styles listed above in my other sections - vintage, retro, antique, vintage/retro ladies, darker themed, Halloween, etc. Maybe some flowers, birds, butterflies, plants, etc.
Pretty Papers in above styles - I especially love Graphic 45. You can see their site HERE. Their vintage style is great! Anything similar to this is extra fabulous. I've seen other companies that have a very similar look.
Postcards/Cards - I would love vintage postcards (70's or earlier) from businesses like Hotels, Restaurants, Resorts, Roadside Attractions, Movie Theaters, etc. Especially any old businesses along Route 66. I just love these little retro glimpses into a bygone past.
I also like postcards with retro/vintage movie posters, pinups, vintage ladies, old weird B movies, vintage horror comics, vintage romance comics or just plain oddness.
Washi Tape This is something I have WAY too much of! That being said, if you find something really awesome in my above styles I won't say no. Ha! Especially something truly fabulous from the Halloween/Darker section above. I'm always on the lookout for that.
Pretty, Pretty Pens - So many pretty pens!!! I do love colorful pens of all sorts. Sparkly, glittery, shimmery, bright, neon, metallic or anything else under the rainbow. Just makes life more fun! I'm open to pretty much any kind of pen. I do not use fountain pens.
I find I use a lot of finer tip pens and especially look for colorful extra fine (.05 or .07) in pretty much any kind of pen but definitely ballpoint.
I've also started using alcohol markers and find them a lot of fun. I have a bunch of the TomBow Dual Tip Alcohol Markers that are exclusive to Michael's but that is pretty much it so far.
When it comes to pens I like all colors as I do use them to color sometimes and it's nice to have a variety of shades. I also love pretty much anything in the Chartreuse range (yellowy greens) so anything along that line is always appreciated. I also really like bright Pinks and Purples.
Stickers - I mean, come on. I was prime age for the sticker craze of the early 80's. Oh, how I miss the old stationery stores with a huge wall full of rolls of stickers. So many rolls of stickers!!! It was always such a treat to get to go and pick your stickers. Back then it was all about unicorns, rainbows, purple and scratch 'n sniff. Oh! So many different scratch 'n sniffs!
Then take them home and add them to your sticker collection which, in those days, was a photo album. You know, the old style ones where you peeled the plastic back, put your stickers down, then smoothed the plastic back out. Aaah.... simple times. Dang, I wish I still had those books.
I still enjoy stickers. My tastes may have changed some but they are still lots of fun. Pretty much anything in the above styles would be great.
Favorite color, Chartreuse - Lots of yellowy green and greenish yellow!!! I like Chartreuse and Black together but all colors are great. Maybe not pastels as much but I'm good with pretty much anything when it comes to color.
Tea - I do enjoy tea. I drink mostly herbal teas but do enjoy a caffeinated tea now and then. Sealed only please.
Succulents and Houseplants - If you have any cuttings you would like to share I would love to collect some. I want to start acquiring some succulents but other houseplants would be fun too. I remember both of my grandmas having what I fondly refer to as indoor gardens. They had so many little plants and succulents in a big group near a window. They would also have lots of tiny little things in the pots and among the leaves. Like tiny little animal figurines and such. It all seemed so magical when I was young. I've always wanted to recreate that for myself.
I recently saved a dying Prayer Plant by taking its few remaining leaves and starting them over. I was surprised at just how much joy I found in watching them sprout and multiply. Oh, so many babies!!! Plus, if you are not familiar with Prayer Plants, they move on their own!!! Seriously! I call them my poltergeist plants. It's creepy and yet so cool. I also planted some Bonsai trees from seeds. That was definitely hit and miss but I have 3 little survivors (1 Rocky Mountain Pine and 2 Norwegian Spruce) going strong. And a bamboo plant that has rebounded from the brink of death in fierce fashion!
If you do decide to share something just make sure to let me know what they are. Especially if they have any history to them. Sometimes plants get passed down through generations. We used to have quite a few of ones from my grandmas but they are all gone now.
No spiders!!! - Seriously. I will haunt you after the heart attack you give me and make your life a nightmare. Ha!
While I LOVE Halloween I do not want anything with realistic looking spiders on it. Not really needing non realistic looking spiders either. Webs are just fine though.
Nothing from Hobby Lobby
No politics
No religion
No hate
No Disney
No Hello Kitty
No Anime
No Kawaii
Nothing Cutesy - Nothing overly cutesy looking or geared towards kids. Unless it's something specific that has been noted somewhere.
Nothing Smelly - I'm a bit sensitive to a lot of smells so no candles, perfumes, bath products, etc. On that note, I do enjoy handcrafted soaps. Just nothing with a perfume or floral scent. Food scents are usually good.
Things I Don't Do - Drink coffee, wear socks, carry a purse, wear a watch or much jewelry, watch sports or reality TV, use keychains, wear hats. I don't need anymore coffee cups.
Food Items I Do Not Like...
Dark Chocolate
Mango, Papaya, Banana flavors
Microwave Popcorn
Maple flavor
Ketchup flavor
Fish or Seafood flavors
Nothing with artificial sweeteners
Coffee
Hard Candies
In addition to what I've listed above, here are a few other things to help you out. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have. I'm more than happy to help.
Crafting Supplies - I would be more than happy with paper crafting supplies. Papers, tapes, ephemera, pens, stickers, etc. In any of the styles listed above but definitely vintage styled is always a safe bet. You can never go wrong with vintage/retro. And pretty much anything chartreuse!
Movies - I love my movies!!! I'm a big fan of Thrillers/Horror. Below are 2 lists. These are just for ideas on what I like and what I already have. Please feel free to choose something not on these lists.
Thriller/Horror Movies I Do Not Have
DVD or Blu Ray is fine. I usually go with which one is the better price.
I already have most movies with Alex Skarsgård, Heath Ledger and Keanu Reeves.
Please - No Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, Mel Gibson or Julia Roberts.
Escape Room Games - I love these puzzle styled games/books. I always love getting new ones. Below is a list of ones I already have.
Books - See next section for book preferences.
I'll admit, I love my storytelling in movie form. I am so lazy when it comes to reading but I do enjoy it! I really enjoy reading books that movies or TV shows are based on. I enjoy seeing how my favorites started out or seeing how both versions compare.
Just like my movie watching, I do enjoy a good thriller in book form too. Twisty, keep you guessing stories are always fun.
Here's 2 Amazon lists that can help you out... These are just for ideas on what I like and what I already have. Please feel free to choose something not on these lists.
Books I have not read that interest me
While I like Thrillers and Horror, I don't really want anything that's too much True Crime styled. Even if it's fiction, nothing heavy on serial killers. It's one thing to be in that for an hour and a half for a movie. It's a whole other thing to be in that, in lots of detail, for days with a book.
I love to try food that it unique to your town, state, region or country. Something I cannot get here.
I do not have any allergies to worry about.
Things I Like...
Potato Chips
Popcorn (not microwave)
Milk Chocolate
Coconut
Caramel
Licorice ~ Black or Red. I love it! But I do not like the salted licorice.
Spicy ~ I really enjoy spicy foods. Spicy but not crazy "light your mouth on fire" hot. I still like to taste the food.
Ramen - I love ramen!!! I love trying new ramen. Things I do not like - fish, shrimp, seaweed or other seafood flavors, anything crazy hot or Tom Yum flavor.
Soda - I enjoy trying regional sodas (soda pop, pop, soft drinks). Pretty much any flavor except for diet sodas.
I’m open to pretty much any kind of snack foods.
Things I Do Not Like...
Dark Chocolate
Mango, Papaya, Banana flavors
Microwave Popcorn
Maple flavor
Ketchup flavor
Fish or Seafood flavors
Nothing with artificial sweeteners
Coffee

Hi Zelda ♥ I wonder if you'd be interested in Cosmic Horror such as Lovecraft. I'm a big fan of this genre (In the Mouth of Madness is one of my favourite) and this is some interesting quote from Lovecraft:
"Life is a hideous thing, and from the background behind what we know of it peer daemoniacal hints of truth which make it sometimes a thousandfold more hideous." - H.P. Lovecraft
Hope you find many more movies for your watchlist and hope you enjoy them all ♥
