About Me

I'm proud to say I am a Sign Language Interpreter! (I changed career at nearly 40, that's 4 years ago now). Living in Gouda, The Netherlands. Gouda is famous for its cheese and candles; a combination that makes you wish you had some red wine to complete the picture. Happily married.Mother of three; two boys aged 7 and 17, and a girl aged 12. I'm a 'veggie' (but I do eat fish). I know... it's a long story.

I enjoy...

Nature, reading, writing, animals like cats, horses and the beautiful okapi (imagine licking your own ears!), natural materials like wood and cotton, the beach, collecting shells, autumn, reading, a fire place, chocolate, reading, word jokes, making people smile. Oh, and reading.

Favorite Books

The shipping news, The golden compass, The story of Edgar Sawtelle, The time traveller's wife, The hundred secret senses and many many more - not necessarily with titles starting 'The'.

Autumn

I'm the autumn type. I love warm colours like brown, dark red, orange (and purple - though that has little to do with autumn). I love the smell of fallen leaves. I love chestnuts. I love October, red wine, pumpkins, the smell of apple pie.

Favorite Music

The Smiths, Morrissey, The Sheer, Hefner, The Housemartins, The Beautiful South, a balladeer, Belle and Sebastian

Favorite Crafts

Being slightly clumsy and more than slightly impatient, I'm not very good at crafts. My products always look so different in the end than I had visualized them when I started! I do like crocheting though. bike seat cover And I'm confident that Swap-Bot provides a lot of inspiration to try something new and different and scary. If you're my partner: be gentle, I'm just getting started...

Personally I tend to like books without "The" in the title, so I wonder if this will affect our friendship...

Welcome to swap-bot and I hope that you find your creative inspiration. I just found this site a few months ago and I've already gone some way to being inspired!

I think it's so cool that you are a sign-language interpreter. What a great career choice.

Happy swapping!

Hi this is a message for you, for the Lonely Swapbot profile swap.

I too am an Autumn person, especially the lovely clear, crisp days. We do not live in a house with a log fire anymore and I really miss curling up in front of it with a good book.

We have a few books in common - I loved the Golden Compass book and although I enjoyed the film, I don't think it was a patch on the book. Have you seen the Time Travellers Wife on film yet? I loved the book, but have not seen the film. I have been told it is worth watching.

Have you tried making any inchies yet - they are so fun to do. They are little 1 inch works of art. They can be made out of a variety of materials. They have become my new addiction!

I hope you have a really good day. Gini
