Hello, I’m Annaliese. 👋 I live in the forest in the Adirondacks with my husband, kids, five cats, three fish, and three snails. We also have an adult child who lives out of state with their partner. I’m a Girl Scout leader, which takes up a good deal of my time, but I really do love it. I spend my free time gardening, taking care of our home, making art (our home is my biggest canvas!), snailmailing, reading, knitting, sewing, and journaling…and if I get to do those things outdoors, even better! Occasionally I leave the house and go thrifting (also known as treasure hunting). 😁
I don’t flake on swaps, so if you do not receive something, just send me a message! :) We live in a rural area with hard winter half the year and sometimes the mail is slooooow. Btw, people have messaged me to confirm my address bc their post office says it does not exist. I promise it does! 😂
A tiny rant:
Rarely — if ever — do I leave bad feedback, and I love giving hearts! ❤️ What I won’t use I will pass to someone who will. I’m appalled when I see a profile saying that swap partners must impress them and earn their heart. 🙈 Good or bad mail/art/whatever is subjective, and not everyone has the same abilities and resources…nor taste. Let’s try being thankful to the kind strangers who spent their time and money to send us happy mail, and assume that others did their best. Be kind! 💌😊💌
Gnomes, cats, witchy stuff, wizards, dollhouse miniatures (1:12), homemaking, seasons, “use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without”, sewing, nature, occult, forests, ocean, coffee, gardening, mushrooms, plants, flowers, fairytales and folktales, reading, tarot, art (I love watercolor and paint in general), visible mending, pagan stuff (especially Celtic, Norse/Scandinavian, etc), Girl Scouts, Scandinavian/Nordic, Halloween (vintage and fun, but not horror stuff), bats, Snow White ❤️💙💛, Lego (yes, I am an AFOL - Adult Fan of Lego ), genealogy, Elsa Beskow, googly eyes, reducing and reusing/zero waste, penpalling, puffins, black swans (the symbol of the lineage society I am in), philately, Waldorf-inspired parenting and living/learning, Edward Gorey, knitting, and bringing fun and happiness to the world at large.
Anything religious, political, racist, misogynist, or otherwise hateful. Really I’m not easily offended, and I can pass on the things I won’t use. I love it when something I receive is perfect for someone in another swap! :)
I pretty much love all colors, but my very favorites are forest/darker green shades, purples, periwinkle, and black. Lately I’ve been loving pastels, too.
I have an overload of playing cards (I have already completed my frankendeck), vintage illustrations and other vintage (and not-vintage) ephemera, and craft supplies. It would be great to renew my stash a bit, so please message me if you look at my profile and think you have some things you would like to swap!
My eight-year-old LOVES fairies, gnomes, etc and would appreciate anything having to do with those (childlike ones, not sexy type). Waldorf-ish stuff would be especially appreciated. :)
In no particular order:
Astrid Lindgren (Pippi Longstocking, Ronja the Robber’s Daughter, etc), Frances Hodgson Burnett (The Secret Garden, A Little Princess, Little Lord Fontleroy, etc), Lucy Maude Montgomery (Anne of Green Gables series), J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, etc), Alice Hoffman (Magic Lessons, Practical Magic, etc), Charles Dickens (Mr. & Mrs. Micawber make me laugh every time I think of them 😁), Tove Jansson (Moomintroll series, The Summer Book, etc), James Herriot’s books, Victorian literature, Beatrix Potter, Marta McDowell’s books about authors’ gardens, Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories, Jane Goodall (lifelong hero)…and many more. I am constantly reading!
