Hello! I am new to swapbot, but find it intriguing and amazing so far. I'm sure this portion will grow as I learn more about the site and what should be included here.
When I mark sent, I've placed the swap(s) in the public big blue mailbox or taken directly to USPS office for postage. If you do not receive your swap, please let me know.
I'm a happily divorced 35yo who is learning to be on her own again. I love exploring new places and learning about different cultures/traditions. I don't normally visit the same place twice because this world is huge, and there's so much to see and do. I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and have done the following: skydive in Alabama, parasail in Florida, paraglide in Brazil, cage diving with great white sharks in South Africa, walked with lions in Zimbabwe, polar bear plunge in Barrow Alaska, bungee jump in Japan, "cage of death" with crocodile in Australia, sky walk in Macau, and zipline in Thailand. Nowadays I'm more "grounded" and find serenity in hiking, preferably up hills or mountains. Mt Fuji is my favorite; have summited her twice. Attempted Mt Kinabalu in Indonesia, but had to turn back. My dream is to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, but for now I'm confined to New England and plan to do Katahdin this summer. Elevation gain clears my head; well unless altitude sickness kicks in, then it's plain misery. I typically listen to a variety of podcasts while on trail.
As I'm learning, if you have constructive feedback, I gladly welcome it in order to become a better swapper. Thank you for stopping by! :)
Joslyn is a black cat who walked into my life a few months ago and continues to grace me with her presence (as long as I keep feeding her).
I'm learning to stretch beyond my comfort zone and try new things. This is the primary reason I've joined Swap-Bot. Recently I have focused on photography * painting (acrylic) * collages * jewelry-making. Additionally, I enjoy writing, so please pardon if I get a bit long winded. Currently I'm working on simple cartoon drawings, journaling, and ATCs.
The "Other" category...
Life goal: become a professional wanderer
Bucket list: Walk the Camino de Santiago across Spain (and if I don't break myself, the Appalachian Trail)
Completed the 13th-century Chichibu Pilgrimage
GISHWHES participant since 2014
Here are a few things that make me smile: * embellishments * stamps * scraps * odd bits/pieces * ribbon * color (all, but I'm particularly fond of deep purples, reds, blues, greens) * stories / poems / books / quotes * street art / graffiti * atypical art * cultures / sociology * mountains * maps (!!!) * coins * oceans / seas * mermaids * travel / unique places * trivia * podcast recommendations * puzzles * interesting paper * homemade postcards * mail art * the work of artist Deb Lestenkof *
~ Dislikes ~ I'm not particularly into:
* sports * food-related items * kawaii (in moderation ok) * makeup * Disney * Marvel/DC *
(not sure yet what to put here)
~ Disclaimers ~
* Religion: While I identify as Christian and attend the Universal Utiliatarian services where all faiths and religions are welcomed, I embrace the motto "deeds, not creeds." Please do not restrict yourself from sharing who you are.
* I'm not into collecting anything in particular. I want to create and share, and see what your muse has blessed you with. Therefore, I prefer handmade/artistic items over store-bought, but will be grateful for your swap sent with thought and care.
* I'm not easily offended. Send what inspires you. That tidbit you've been holding onto but not sure who will appreciate it or laugh at the obscure humor, send it. Let's share a laugh!
* No allergies, but I prefer not receiving snacks/food.
My favorite genre of music is a "lil' bit of everything." I tend to listen to indie, rockabilly, folk, and reggae more often. The station WCLZ 98.9 in Portland Maine ("different is good") gives me hope that meaningful lyrics can still be found on the open airwaves.
My guilty pleasures are rom-com's; although my Netflix ratings would disagree and attest documentaries and BBC specials capture my interest more often.
I'm not into TV, because commercials (yuck!). If it is on, it's mainly background noise.
Podcasts I regularly listen to include: * Reveal * Optimal Living Daily * Fresh Air * The Love Cast with Jamal * Up First * Remarkable Lives, Tragic Deaths * TEDtalks * Freakonamics Radio * Radiolab * Hidden Brain * Planet Money * Stuff You Should Know * Stuff You Missed in History Class * Stuff Mom Never Told You * Stuff They Don't Want You to Know * The History Chicks * Do you recommend any others?

APDG ~ Sea & Oceans 🌊
I hope you like the pics and gifs that I've chosen for you!
British endurance swimmer Lewis Pugh is the world record holder for most southerly swim.
Theoretically, it can occur in all oceans of the world, in the region "Estuary" - where water flows into rivers and the sea. However, there are few places ...
I hope you enjoyed what I shared with you.
Blessings,
Yvonne
