NOTE: 2/20/2017: I have decided to take a break from swap-bot. I am not currently signed up for any swaps, although I will continue to look at swaps available through the groups I am a member of from time to time. Sometimes life gets a bit to hectic and I don't feel I can apply myself to the extent my potential swap partners would deserve on a routine basis, so I will only sign up for an occasional swap when I am confident I can give it my all. Swap-Bot is fantastic and I look forward to a time, in the not too distant future, when I can become more involved again. :o)
I'm Patricia. I'm am employed full time and the mother of three grown daughters, the youngest of which ventured out on her own only recently. For the first time, my husband and I are empty-nesters and it's taking a lot of getting used to for me. I was never one of those moms who couldn't wait to get their kids out of the house. My daughters are 32, 23 and 21, so I've spent more than half my life doing things with and for them, so I'm feeling a bit lonely. I have been looking for a way to connect with others who enjoy some of the same things I do. I would like to note, I have been enjoying swap-bot very much and it has lifted my spirits! :o) My husband and I live in a suburb of Denver and growing up in a small town and remaining a "small town girl" at heart, I've always felt like an outsider in the big city. In retirement, we are planning to relocate to a small town on the Gulf Coast. Can't wait! We both long for the ocean! this is the first time I've joined a swap group, or any craft related group in general. Although I've been a bit hesitant to do so, I'm jumping in with both feet and can't wait to get started!
I love animals, had three dogs (our sweet, elderly corgi passed away just before Christmas) now down to two; and two cats. My passion is cooking and I'm crafting more often now and currently trying several new crafting options. My plan is to finally learn to sew. I also love vintage and everything pretty. I love flowers and enjoy time in my garden. Although warm colors are best for me, I love pastels. I also love vintage/antique lace and linens for fabric journals. I love to cook and bake. I'm always trying new spices and enjoy experimenting. My new favorites are southern recipes and I'm a big fan of Taste of the South magazine. Pasta recipes are also my favorites. When it comes to desserts, I like everything with the exception of custard and tiramisu--definitely not my first choice. I recently received a swap of baking chocolate from Finland. I'm waiting to find a new, special recipe (preferably from Finland) before giving it a try. I want to be sure I use it for something extra special.
Building fairy houses and fairy furniture Mixed Media Journals, Watercolor painting, ATC's, I just finished my first mixed media doll for a friend's birthday. Being my own worst critic, it certainly wasn't perfect, but I've got to start somewhere and my friend was happy to receive it, so that's what matters most! :o)
I'm a Christian and enjoy reading Christian fiction, romance and mysteries. Fiction based on historical facts is also a favorite of mine. I grew up in a "haunted" house in upstate NY, so paranormal fiction also interests me.
With so much sadness and unrest in the world these days, I perfer watching the Hallmark channel as a means of diversion and entertainment. I am also a big fan of the AMC channel. I love Property Brothers and any shows having to do with historic preservation and remodel.
I like anything vintage and antiques. I love the history associated with such things. I've just started swaping postcards and have found out they are very difficult to find in the Denver area. Any pretty, vintage, art, fantasy and surreal postcards are my favorites. Also love Halloween and Christmas PC's, any time of year. If it's "pretty" and feminine I'll love it. I love hot chocolate, coffee and am enjoying the teas I've received from recent swapsl. I'm branching out a bit and open to trying everything when it comes to tea. I'm not as organized as I would like to be, so any swaps that would help with that will be greatly appreciated, like things for organizers. Suggestions are also greatly appreciated. I'm open to most anything and there is nothing in particular I don't like, except for licorice and custard.
PLEASE, if you ever don't receive a swap from me, message me and I will be happy to resend. I read profiles carefully and try to put considerable thought into what I am sending. I love to give and I want the receiver to be happy with what I have sent.
