I'm Baaaack! After spending day after day on the couch watching YouTube and finding ways to spend my time (the heat here is keeping us all inside, triple digit temps just don't encourage leaving the air conditioning) I remembered this site! JOY !
Recently, I became a widow and still have a ton of papers to take care of, but I can only take so much paperwork at a time. So I have started spending lots of time in my craft room. It is a great way to distract myself from the sadness that is trying to consume me. Sleep is elusive, housework is boring and so to the craft room I go.
You name it I have probably tried and and loved it in regards to crafts. Currently I am involved in cardmaking, rubberstamping, art journaling, polymer clay, book making, knitting, crocheting, and journaling.
My two top favorites right now are junk journals and bookmaking. I love making pages of art that I get to just sit and create. I add paint, stamping, texture, doodles, words, scraps of paper and more. Sometimes I even make books of these things and go with a theme. I have filled an art journal and am working on several more. Old books make great art journals, just add gesso and you have a blank canvas with a little texture showing through.
If I find something on YouTube that intrigues me, I have to try it. Of course, I have to put my own spin on it, but still I gotta try it. Sometimes it comes out, sometimes it is a lot harder than those people make it look.
I love cats and currently have a kitten who learned how to rule the roost in one day. She is a tabby who is small for her size but has a big personality. She has a large hole to fill as we lost our two sweeties this past Spring within two months. Update, 2023: That little kitten grew and grew and now is a chunk! This past year, a tuxedo cat was added and he really loves it here. He keeps the chunk in shape by chasing her, so her fat has turned to muscle and she weighs over 15 pounds now. They are both a comfort to me and keep me company.
My favorite colors are teal and green. My craft room AKA playroom is painted teal. I have a huge sewing machine that I break out once in a while after years of quilting, At one time I was a quilt/embroidery teacher at the local quilt shop. But before that I was a Home Ec teacher.
Sitting down at my craft table with all my tools and supplies around me is the happiest place I can imagine right now. I have so many supplies that I think I will never run out. PLUS I have oodles of junk/stuff that can be used coming into the house all the time.
Mama taught me to never be rude about gifts. But, I just rather not have some things - like
baby stuff
wedding stuff
Anime
Disney Cutesy stuff just turns me off, so please try to keep it for adults. I have no children at home to share with.
I prefer that you do not send religious or spiritual items for swaps. My faith is personal and while I respect that you might wish to reach out and witness to me, please don't use swaps with me to do so.
