11/13/23 I am updating my profile today so things are a little more relevant.
I love to quilt and mostly make quilts as gifts or charity. I like to challenge myself to try different patterns and techniques. I love red work and traditional embroidery, counted cross stitch and what they call “slow stitching”.
I also, like to make angels from fabric and lace.
A few years ago I took some embroidery lessons. I find I really enjoy it but, don't get a lot of time for it. My favorite is red or blue work embroidery.
I do some crochet. Mostly small items.
I love to cook and have developed some pretty good recipes that my family likes over the years.
My birthday is on Valentines's Day. I enjoy getting and giving valentines, heart shaped cakes and other heart shaped items.
.My husband and will have been married 51 years as of December 1st of this year. We have a son and a daughter, 4 grand daughters and 2 grand sons ranging in age from 16 to 8 yo. My son passed away in June of 2020.
I used to have a little bichon/pekinese mix dog named Bucky. He really liked to cuddle and is a great companion. Bucky has since crossed the rainbow bridge. My new canine companion is named Bogart Longfellow. We call him Bogie for short. The Longfellow is because he is long bodied. We adopted him from the animal shelter. He is a totally white haired dog. They say he is a poodle mix but he has a lot of the characteristics of a Llasa Apso.
My favorite foods are pizza, mexican food, some chinese foods, ice cream and chocolate. However, I don't eat as much of these as I would like for some obvious reasons. I lost 55 pounds a couple of years ago and have kept it off.I still have more to go though. I don't intend to gain any of it back so am becoming fonder of fruits and vegetables.
I enjoy gardening and reaping the bounty at the end of the season. There is nothing better than fresh tomatoes and cucumbers straight from the garden. However, I don't have the space right now for anything but a small herb garden
My husband and I have been retired just over 3 years now. We were hoping to travel through the 50 states by motor home but, other things have changed our plans for now.
IMy favorite gemstones are Amethyst (my birthstone) and ametrine (a combination of amethyst and citrine) Citrine is my husbands birthstone. I have a small collection of these stones and others.
I like pretty ribbons with polka dots ,checked or plaid; threads, and buttons (especially heart shaped) I like getting and giving heart shaped items.
Favorite fabrics are the 1930's reproductions,The Civil War reproduction fabrics, batiks and Amy Butler. I like Riley Blake fabrics especially the polka dots (white with black swiss dots is my favorite) Most Moda fabric lines. I like fabrics with cherries printed on them and Christmas fabric with red cardinals. I have acquired an affinity lately for Kaffe Fawcett and Tula pink fabrics.
Favorite colors for fabrics: I really like red and aqua and red and white together. Blue and yellow together is another favorite combination. I love fabrics with text and polka dots of any color. Some other faves are purples, greens and white on white. I love fabrics with cherries printed on them and fabric with cute hedgehogs. Christmas fabric with red cardinals. I also like the fabrics with snowflake prints on them especially the white on white. Any beachy or light house prints
I I love no bleed sharpies and post it notes or small note pads
I am a pushover for a pretty handmade tote bag. I also enjoy making them.
Favorite flowers are lilacs and roses. I love the scent of lavender and enjoy soaking with it in a warm tub of water or using a nice bar of lavender soap. Basically, anything lavender like sachets, oil etc.
Favorite birds are Red cardinals, chickadees and hummingbirds. Anything hummingbird is great since I live on Hummingbird Lane now.
I also like to collect healthy recipes and enjoy using various herbs (favorite is rosemary) and spices (love whole nutmeg) in my cooking.
I enjoy a good cup of green tea especially the citrus flavored ones. I also like lemon ginger tea.
I like semi sweet chocolate and prefer to linger over 1 good piece of chocolate instead of several pieces of the cheap stuff.
I love pecans, macadamia nuts, almonds, pistachios and peanuts.
I like nice photos of sunsets, beach scenes sea shells and sea life.
I don't knit and would love to have a hand knitted scarf or hat.

I DON'T like and/or DON'T want the following items:
I am very allergic to smoke. Please don't send anything that may possibly be exposed to smoke.
I don't want anything highly scented. I can use lavender as listed above but do not want anything other than that because of sensitivities
I like jewelry but don't wear it much.
Kawaii
Candles
anything with skulls, witches, gothic related. I am not a fan of Halloween items either.
Nothing that would be considered inappropriate for my young grandchildren to see.
I make the effort to send all swaps out on time. If there is a time that I am unable to send on time, you will be notified by me before swap ends. I try to send everything early but, nowadays I don't get to the post office as often as I used to.
If you do not receive a swap from me in a reasonable time, let me know. I will re send if necessary. I will never flake on any one because, for one thing, it isn't nice and for another, I wouldn't want it to happen to me.
If for some reason you are not happy with a swap, PM me and let me know. Perhaps we can work something out. I aim to make my partners happy.
Also, I try to rate my partners the same day I receive my package and would like the same courtesy from my swap partners. I put a lot of thought and time into the handcrafted items I swap and try to match them with profiles as much as possible so, it would be nice to get a few words of feedback from swap partners.
