Enjoy lots of things from crochet, quilting, sewing, and embroidery, to stained glass, matchboxes, and upcycling junk. Now that I finally have my first two grands I find I do more quilting and embroidery and sewing doll clothes. I only had sons, so am thoroughly enjoying these two little ladies! Love vintage everything. My home has a 30-40s feel. We are water rationed here so out came my "cottage garden" and it's been replaced with river rocks, gravel, and drought-tolerant natives that attract native birds, butterflies, and pollinators.. Actually enjoying a big decrease in gardening chores and increase in birds and butterflies (two of my favorite things).
Love many types of music from classical to big band to rock to new age. Enjoy Enya, Pink Martini, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Glen Hansard, Koop, Nouvelle Vague, Chinese and Andes flute, and Botelli, Buble, Dino, Sinatra, Connick Jr. etc. And still love listening to my favorite Ray Lynch.
Love reading novels about life in other countries/different cultures. Very much enjoy Alexander McCall Smith and highly recommend his #1 Ladies Detective series for pure, relaxing enjoyment and I always learn something interesting or about human nature. Love interesting books and podcasts by scientists (Feynman, Tyson, Czerski, etc.)
Enjoy just about anything from the 30s to 60s in just about any genre except Westerns or animation. Always look forward to a good sci-fi flick. Favorite movie scene of all time is the "drive-by the cop" scene in Bridesmaids.
Love River, Vera, Bomb Girls, Doc Martin, Dexter, Call the Midwife, and The Booth at the End! Enjoy Criminal Minds, Cold Case, and any of the Law and Orders. And love the old Alfred Hitchcock mystery series as well as Twilight Zone, One Step Beyond, and Star Trek. TCM my favorite network. Loved the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series for the one season it lasted.
Looking forward to new experiences and acquaintences through swap-bot! I'm a recently retired teacher living in my favorite place on earth, enjoying my sons and their absolutely wonderful wives, and now my two precious granddaughters, and trying to catch up with all those things I had to put off while working. Love time on the beach and walking the pups along the creek, learning new things daily, and taking trips! Recently returned from long-awaited RV tour of the USA. What a blast, but so nice to get home after months on the road.I love rummage sales, flea markets, and antique shops because I love most things vintage (sappy sentimentalist). Love just about anything bird-related.
Foods: not crazy about include chocolate, peanuts, or mint, but I adore vanilla, almond, cherry, coconut, and most anything else. Love most teas and coffee, except mint and rooibos (red tea). No allergies to foods. Blood sugar been on the rise so am avoiding as many sugars and carbs as possible.
Colors: in my home are mostly warm colors--I've tried for a cozy, 40s English cottage feel. Kitchen is creams and light beige/brown. My favorite color is coral, but love most any bright and cheerful fabrics as I am trying to focus on projects for my grands.
Quote and philosophy on life: "Truly is the everything filled with wonder," Alan Dean Foster.
Love most things vintage. My favorite shopping is tag sales, church rummage sales & thrift shops -- just love using or repurposing things most people probably toss out! And, I will admit it here, I have trouble throwing anything potentially-useful out; it might be just the thing I need someday!
Animation of any kind; Westerns; modern and streamlined anything; self-help (not that I couldn't use some...)
Hearing about other people's points of view; seeing others' creative works; learning interesting facts and trivia about people, their lives, their home towns and countries.
