In my area even though its very red and a bit more rural we have a good couple of groups of people who do amazing things in the community. One who is specifically protesting Ice recently is called Redding Resistance and they organized the largest protest Ive seen in my community in years at town hall against Ice as well as weekly protests for about the last 6 months at town hall. I also really like another local group a bit unrelated but still important called Free Palestine Norcal they often hold protests on the highway bridges in our town as well as educational events at places like the library so people can be educated on current events and Palestinian culture as a whole! Comment: Hi there! I like the colours and the arrangement of your collage. The green looks abstractly leafy. I'm not quite into collage as an art yet. Too literalist, or else I go into layers of symbolism. But yes, iHanna is fun! Even if you don't join and keep the small works yourself. <3 "Dark academia" is an aesthetic. I'm happy there's a name for it now. Teenage me would be thrilled. Think "Dead Poets Society." Solid wood furniture, functional but not sparse; Turkish or Moroccan carpets, wrought iron, classical Roman statues, or some featured area of academic interest displayed in an uncluttered but not minimalist style. For me, it's an odd mix of pre-Raphaelite and fantasy styles like Fortescue's work. My obsession is Taisho and early Showa-era kimono collecting, though. If you would really love authentic sashiko, look up "Sashiko Story" on IG and Youtube. Susan Briscoe was one of the early artists to teach in English, and I have some of her books. Sashiko Story adds more of the culture and history behind the art. I think you'll enjoy it a lot. They also do classes, I think.
