Most recent profile update: Apr. 2022 I'm a 38 year old college grad currently living in Central PA with my husband (Of 15 years on December 31, 2020!) and my retired-librarian Mother. My husband and I are Lifetime members of the Universal Gamers Guild - our motto: Play Games, Have Fun.
~ I have a 6 year old son! (Born in January 2016) His online handle is Squid. He loves cars and trucks, gardening, cooking, reading and building legos.
~I worked at the circulation desk of the local public library. We moved, and now I'm a domestic engineer (AKA: a stay at home Mom). I loved providing Reader's Advisory - suggesting the next book someone should check out.
~I don't like cooking, but I do occasionally like baking. I do, however, like to read cookbooks.
~My Family does ALL the crafts. Our basement craft room looks like a craft store! The incomplete list of crafts includes paper crafting, knitting, crochet, spinning, tatting, painting, drawing, woodworking and chainmail (my husband), quilting (my mom)....
Our house theme for 2022 is "One World".
My major hobby at the moment is the Harry Potter Knit and Crochet House Cup at Ravelry - tons of my time goes to crocheting, knitting and spinning!
~ We homeschool. Squid is currently doing a Kindergarten Curriculum focused on countries around the world (Torchlight, level k).
~I collect ATC's and lapel pins.
~My favorite book genres are Romance, Fantasy and cookbooks (although I don't really like to cook, I just like to browse the recipes). I adore rewritten and fractured fairy tales (Mercedes Lackey's 500 Kingdoms series is wonderful!). I have a Kindle but still love physical books. I also love audiobooks.
~My favorite colors are black and jewel tones - especially blue and green.
~I love mythical beasties - particularly dragons. I used to work in a zoo and am rather fond of most all critters, actually.
~I love playing games - board games, card games, RPGS, video games - any kind of games! If you're curious, our game collection is here: https://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/Kaypendragon
~I am a tea snob - I love tea, but am very particular about it. My favorite brands are Stash and Twinnings. I prefer the plainer black teas, like English Breakfast, and spiced teas. (Sadly, I've had to give up caffeine recently, so I'm learning to like decaf.) I also like herbal teas. I also love tea baked goods: scones, biscuits, buns and desserts - tea time is the only time I like to cook for. I prefer tea bags but do have the equipment to handle loose tea.
There's not a lot that I don't like and most of the stuff I'm not fond of I can give to people around me who do like it (IE: I don't drink coffee but Hubby does).
But there are a couple of real dislikes: I don't do artificial sweeteners. No "sugar-free" anything. I can't even give it away.
In Teas, I don't like Lipton brand or Bigelow brand. I do not like roobios tea. Most anything else, I'll at least try.
I'm highly allergic to cigarette smoke. So, if you are or live with a smoker, drop me a note ahead of time.
I'm non-religious. We do celebrate ALL the secular holidays, so things like Christmas cards and Easter eggs are still appreciated but please no overtly religious items.
I LOVE hand drawn Atc's. I don't make judgements on drawing skill so if you want to try out mini-sized drawing or painting, I'm the one to send it to!
Games - board games, card games, dice games. Also papercrafting items in game themes.
We have a WiiU, a Switch and a PS2 which love hand crafted accessories or used games. Squid LOVES MarioKart and Yoshi's Crafted World.
Tea icons - I'm particularly hunting for a tea cup or teapot stencil. Tea themed stamps and stickers are cool too.
Yarn! Mini skeins are lovely. Acrylic goes to making baby hats and blankets for a local hospital, so it's better if it's soft. Wool and bends become things for me. It's nice to know the fiber content, and the brand if it's commercial yarn.
Squid's Wishlist: * His major collection of choice is matchbox cars. * He loves legos. * Easy reader books - used paperbacks are fine. * Favored pop-culture characters are Disney's Cars and Nintendo Mario characters and Lego minifigs. * Favorite themes: Construction vehicles, trains, animals, science/engineering/math, outer space, cooking.
