Response: I really do think they are only found in Idaho. You can buy mailable boxes to send to friends and family around the holiday season.

Comment: We do have the same mix of animals, but I still love them! Raccoons are my absolute favorite animal in Michigan, they're so mischievous!

Comment: Hello Susan, you deserve a "heart," for the unusual view of Wyoming and for the fact you have driven across Wyoming. I've never been there though I've heard praise. Thank you for the unusual view of a unique tree growing out of a rock, with special sign, fenced off. We don't have one of those here in Florida. Fun swap. Happy November!
Response: The fence and special sign is what makes the tree unique. We have lots of trees growing out of rocks here in the west--most notably in Yellowstone. Thanks for the heart.

Comment: Thank you for the very nice note cards. I know what you mean about accumulating a lot of note cards through swapping. I enjoy receiving them. I use mine to write notes in to send with swaps. With a wide variety of cards I can usually find a card that someone will like based on their profile likes. It's a good way to use some of your note cards up so you don't have an over whelming amount:) I even write letters in my note cards and if I happen to run out of room I just use regular paper to finish my letter and enclose it in the card.

Comment: Loved to hear about flowers and hiking. We dont tend to hike here APRIL to SEPT, it is deadly. Right here though 1 miles from my house is a Hiking area, as it is a desert preserve. We have them all over the valley. We call them mountains but they are just big natural rocky hills.

Your suggestion reminds me of a historical fiction mystery series by Anna Dean. The heroine is Miss Dido Kent, who scandalizes everyone by remaining single in her late 20's and having a brain and using it. The first book in the series is called Bellfield Hall. Very good. :-)

Comment: Reading is just the best isn't it? We love libraries and we always have a table of books at the neighborhood garage sale. We sell our paperbacks for 50 cents and hardbacks for a dollar. We always sell lots as we are usually the cheapest on books. Our house is like a bookstore too and my husband lends books (or gives them) to co-workers all the time.

Comment: Thank you! I never thought of putting my favorite things on an ATC. It looks like you might have been on a cruise, too. I have been on two of them but with all the extras you have to pay now when you fly, I would just as soon drive through the states in a car.
Response: Well, I'm hoping for a cruise one day soon. We mostly travel by travel trailer and "drive through the states in a car". Only in our case we have a pickup pulling the trailer. I had fun making the ATC, very simple but fun. Thanks for the heart!

Comment: Beautiful card! And the drive along the Columbia on the Oregon side is a favorite of ours. My husband is from Salem, so we sometimes go that way when we are coming from Idaho (we have family in Boise). If you ever get there, stop at the Maryhill Museum on the Washington side, a little east of Portland. I isn't very large, but it has a wonderful collection of drawings and a few small pieces by Rodin, as well as other, very varied, exhibits. Thanks again, and happy swapping!

Response: Not scary at all, they were just concentrating on eating the grass that was in the ampitheatre. Later that night in that same spot there was about 500 people in their watching the program.

Comment: Great card, Susan. Love the stamp! What others are in the Harry Potter collection... I get lots of mail from the US but don't recall seeing any others.
Response: The stamps are just new out, in a folded booklet. All of the main characters are depicted, the others I am not sure of as I don't have them right before me. It's a neat set of stamps.

Response: Religious buildings in Utah are mostly temples from the LDS church--on postcards anyway. There are other churches buildings that are magnificent, but don't seem to be on a postcard.

Response: I grew up in the city and didn't even know potatoes grew in the ground. I just never thought of it. Boy was I in for a surprise! I love the life and it was an excellent experience for my kids--they definitely know how to work!

Comment: Thanks for the Craters card! My hubby grew up in Idaho. We were going to visit Craters a few years ago while on our way home from Canada. Got to the turnoff on I-15 and the wind was blowing about 60mph, so we ditched. Maybe next time.
Response: It's small, not much to see if you don't get out of the car and explore. It always blows in Idaho, but 60 mph is not site-seeing weather either!

Comment: Thanks, I love the card! We drove through Grand Teton in June on our way to Yellowstone and I didn't pick up any cards on our way through. Just after entering the park (from the south) a beautiful black bear crossed the road in front of our car. :)

Comment: Thank you for the Tabernacle postcard. I've only been once (2009) We went with my aunt to a recording of Music and the Spoken Word. Lloyd Newell was right behind us. Our row was right in front of where he stands when narrating the show. It was so neat. David McCullough happened to be there too but didn't get to meet him. He was in the VIP section. He was in SLC presenting for a seminar for history teachers.. my aunt went to the seminar as she is a teacher. More than a brief comment.. sorry. That was an interesting day :)

I can't believe one of your daughters teaches a 4-6 grade class in a two-room school in the middle of nowhere.. is this also in Idaho? I admire her! I want to do something unique and different with my life, too! Teaching gifted and talented students is also very difficult! It takes a different "breed" of teacher to be able to teach them! Best of luck to you and your daughters!
Response: Yes, the school is in Idaho, a small farming community. There is only the elementary school in that district. The kids are bused 35 miles away for Jr. & Sr. high schools. Thanks for your really kind words (and the heart).

Comment: How fun collecting opals! Reminds me of being in China and getting pearls our of oysters. Still have the pearls but nothing to do with them. Glad you had fun, and thanks for the card!

BTW our names are similar too, how funny is that! Never actually been to Sandpoint myself, just driving by a couple of times. I know it's beautiful up that way.

Response: Sometimes during harvest we have people stop and watch, either grain harvest or potato harvest. As long as they don't get in the way--they might get run down. :)

Comment: Thanks for the Idaho card! My first look at Idaho! Pretty! Yes, I know about letterboxing. I want to learn to carve my own stamps. I've done it a few times, but don't have a regular partner to go with for security. Also, Illinois frowns on using their Forest Preserves or State Parks in this way. They CHARGE you to letterbox! You need a permit to plant, and a permit to find! INSANE!! My home state of CT LOVES <3 people to letterbox and use their state parks! You'll find lots of boxes hidden there.
