I hope you receive equally thoughtful and delightful Happy Mail for this swap! Once in awhile Happy Mail can be a dud, but try again!
It is fun I think just to put together something that will make your partner smile. We've had the super hot weather too but here in So Cal we all have AC. My son and his wife live in Portland and also have no ac - but most of the year they love it there - all the trees! Hope to see you in more swaps! Thanks again.

Comment: Thank you for the great ATC. As a side not, the envelope was completely ripped on all 4 sides and luckily someone taped it at the post office st the contents were still there.
Response: I'm sorry to hear that ... that's the first time I've heard of that happening with any ATC I've mailed. I can't help but think that the contents befouled the USPS machinery - or someone opened it purposely to see what was inside. The envelope wasn't heavy-duty, but I've mailed hundreds just like it and never had a problem. I hope your ATC wasn't damaged as a result.

Response: Thank you so much for your complimentary remarks! Yes - I started with canvas paper, which I just love as a backing. I applied paint and/or glaze, then torn dictionary pages and tissue paper (applied with gel medium). After drying, I stamped that with black acrylic paint and rubber stamps. Comment: paper clay? Cool! Never heard of this stuff, how does it work?
Response: Thanks for asking. I should have called it air-dry clay. I had the flu for about three weeks before these ATCs went out, so I was demented. One of the three brands you can buy is called Creative Paperclay, so maybe I wasn't too far off base. It comes in a brick and you can pull off pieces and save the rest, but your wrapping must be air-tight. It dries in 24 hours. You can stamp on it, shape it, roll it, flatten it, and after drying it can be painted, chalked, sprayed, whatever. The brand I used is called Delight, as it's very lightweight. This was an experiment more than anything . . . I'm glad so many people liked it.

Comment: Very cool card! How did you make it? Seems like you sandwiched yarn, beads, etc. and possibly paint between something, dried, and peeled off the top layer maybe?
Response: Thanks for your kind words. That ATC was made using a fused fiber technique that I got from Bernie Berlin's ATC Workshop book. You make a nest of various fibers over fusible webbing, and add embossing powder and more webbing on top, then iron it (under a heat-resistant craft sheet). Each one was unique. Glad you liked it!

I'm not remembering which backs I used for this swap. Some are stamps - like the pointing hand and the intricate borders. The others ones I have made myself using graphics and text boxes. Thanks for noticing!
